nopethe301stspartan#26 Pls find a scenario where what you say is actually true and a year-ban has any benefit over a permaban.
There would have to be a cheater who gets a year ban, actually repents and patiently follows the game for a year without buying an alt to start playing legit again after the ban expires.
This is not a realistic scenario imo.
Happens all the time competitively.
I have multiple relatively young friends who got caught cheating and banned from ozfortress for a year or two before I knew them and they're now just normal members of the community like anyone else. That's part of the reason why I personally don't support hardware id bans.
That said, it's overwatch. Out of all the games to not be able to play, that's a pretty good one imo.
An ozfortress ban is not the same as being unable to play the game. If they're serious enough about tf2 to play in ozfortress and they got a ban that left them unable to play tf2, I'm sure they would make alt accounts, even if it cost them 60 shekels.

What I want to know is how many people on the top 500 list were banned. Why doesn't NA blizzard act like China blizzard and just publish all their names so we can shame them if we know any of the cheaters.

It was almost implied that it would be too bothersome for little to gain on their end.
We asked if they could add "PLAYER BANNED" into the API or on player profiles so that leagues could easily find out when players got banned, they said they would prefer just removing (deleting) the accounts.
