Tip of the Hats 2016 announced

For most people winter is the season of giving, but the members of the Team Fortress 2 community are not most people. Every summer for as long as I can remember they have felt an uncontrollable burning sensation in their pants and in their wallets, crowdfunding huge sums to send sweaty nerds to LAN and even send children with cancer to camp!

Tip of the Hats 2016 has just been unveiled to the public, so whip out your pocket diary and leaf through to September 16-18, circle that badboy, then go set your homepage to twitch.tv/tipofthehats and begin your mental preparations for what is set to be the biggest (and best) TF2 event of 2016.

Since 2013 the annual Tip of the Hats charity live stream event has raised over $320,000 for Children's Oncology Services. Each year the organisers have pushed envelop on what can be achieved and the community has responded in kind. This year they are working even harder to squeeze out every last drop of entertainment for you with an extra day on the stream schedule and an extra European on hand to keep things classy… Oh? They got Sideshow? … well an extra European on hand anyway!

As for what you can do right now to contain your excitement? Make sure to check out the new and improved site at tipofthehats.org, give the guys a follow @TipoftheHats and help spread the word! Donations won't open until a week prior to the event itself, so grab all your most treasured hats and hard earned cash, stuff 'em under the mattress for the next 6 weeks and await further instructions.

I'd just like to say that between last year's event and now, I was fortunate enough to actually volunteer for a camp that benefited from children's oncology services and it was one of the most amazing event ever. The cause is well worth it. Seeing in action first hand is much greater of an experience than just hearing about it online. But just know it's for a good cause.
