If Lundqvist won't win his cup this year, then either Ovi or Jumbo Joe need to win this year.

Not sure what you are smoking but he is much better than "good". Only a handful of goalies in the whole league are better IMO

name them

also glad to see wash advance, i would like ovi to win a cup even it it means tj oshie wins one

Goalies better than him this season? Probably Carey Price (obv, he IS the Canadiens), Schneider, Holtby, and maybe Elliot (this season).

Over the last 5 years? Only Carey Price really.

if you're talking about over the last 5 years then you can't ignore quick even if he's dropped down recently, in peak playoffs he was in the best form of any goaltender that's ever played playoffs

The King was pulled more than any other goalie this past season so there's that for one.

And he got pulled two playoff games in a row on the way to elimination.

How bout Matt Murray though? Pretty solid for a rookie in the playoffs.

Might be a bit bias but I think Bishop should be in this list guy has been carrying us the past couple of seasons

the only correct answer is the blues for the cup

FINALLY st louis will take home the championship they've waited since 1967 for. Figures that the one time they finally believe in brian elliott and keep him in every game is the one where he goes ham and they beat the hawks. I see zero way that a young offensive team can beat the heavy hitting, defensive blues for round 2--minnesota is full of big burly men that host one of the best matchups for the blues since even if they're less skilled than other teams, they play very well against them (see last year). preds for the second round once the awesome anaheim/nashville series ends

Lol Schenn gets a 3 game suspension for charging Oshie, that's fucking ridiculous. Bellmare's hit gets 1 game, Chimera on Voracek gets nothing, countless other hits from both teams that were way worse than what Schenn did got nothing.

I'm not even mad about the suspension, it's just the lack of consistency from the NHL DPS that bothers me. They've been horribly inconsistent all season long. The NHL seriously needs to look into that department and figure out what the fuck is wrong there, because they're clearly missing something.

I think it'll probably be Blues vs Sharks in the WC Finals. The East is a lot harder to predict this year.

I honestly don't have much of a problem with the Schenn 3 game suspension. He clearly had an upward motion to his hit instead of a purely forward motion.

As you said, the leagues lack of consistence is the major problem here. The lack of consistency is why players like Chimera continue to make blatant hits like he did to Voracek. He got away with it and other players in the league will see that incident and try to get away with their own hits. The NHL is creating their own problem by not cracking down on "all" illegal hits.

They are also taking away from the game we all love. Lets face it, hockey is the most team oriented and physical of all the major sports. If the league keeps taking hitting out of the game it will change everything we love about hockey IMO.

The only thing i'll say on Bellemare vs Schenn is that Bellemare was suspended for 1 playoff game, whereas Schenn gets 3 regular season games. Historically players have been suspended for shorter periods during the playoffs due to the shorter length of the playoffs.

Damn, nice hussle by the Preds. Really good effort to take out such a hot team like Anaheim in the first round.

- Blues over Stars in 5: Dallas is a young, offensively minded team. The Blues are big guys that hit the crap out of their opponents. Even if Dallas takes the first, the impact of STL's heavy-hitting style is going to crush them. Plus, the defense/goaltending combo in STL will definitely match or surpass Dallas' insane offensive talent; Elliott has been a monster in most of the games, and when he is, his team continues to win.

- Sharks over Predators in 5: Predators showed a lot of poise defeating Anaheim, but the Sharks have had a long break and the Preds just finished game 7 tonight. They're going to be tired, and both teams are well-rounded teams, but the Sharks just looked so strong defeating the Kings so heavily, especially considering they had to play against guys like Kopitar.

- Penguins over Capitals in 6: Capitals are an impressive team, but their lack of experience against a Penguins team that is rolling on all cylinders whereas the Caps started to look weaker towards the end of their Philly series (the Flyers hit them pretty hard, the Rangers didn't make the Penguins get hit physically nearly as hard) will be the decider imo. I would've predicted Pens in 5, but the Capitals are pretty resilient and the combination of Ovechkin's god-tier offense and Holtby's otherworldly play (although a bit weaker considering the lack of shots Philly had against them) will definitely outmatch the Crosby/Fleury combo on the other side.

- Islanders over Lightning in 7: This is going to be a good series. Both teams are young, talented and pretty stacked on the offensive line, but I think NY's recent playoff series have left them hungrier to win whereas with Tampa, they've had numerous deep playoff runs in recent history and one has to wonder whether the hockey gods will allow this continued success over and over.
