My grandma got me a small glass cup. When I pulled it out she said, "There's more!" I then found there was a box of toothpicks. My grandma just looked at me all excited and said, "You can put those in the cup!"

I remember as a kid about 8 years old, my grandparents literally gave me a single like $1 hot wheels car for Christmas. I was so disappointed lol

Personally I think the worst gifts are the ones you know effort has been put in, but it's just something you don't like at all and it makes you feel guilty for not liking it, and it's so disappointing for the one who gives it to notice that

Several years ago on the night of Christmas Eve I found out my grandmother had breast cancer. Parents flew out to see her the next day. She died a couple of weeks later.

it sounds really shitty to say, but when i get an expensive gift, like $60+ it makes me really uncomfortable. my grandfather bought me this giant flatscreen one year and it felt so awkward that i didn't use it for like 6 months because i felt bad. i didn't even ask for it.

At least its something you can use. I need to buy more socks... mine only last a few months until they get holes in them. I think the tile in our house tears them up easily or something. I think socks with more polyester / nylon will last longer than cotton. Gonna try them next.

It's not a bad gift, but its annoying when you get a gift from someone and its something that you will never use, but you don't want to sell it or give it away, because if they ask you about it, its awkward.

A family friend that works at google gave me a google LG watch last Christmas. I hate watches, and no one else in my family wants it. So its just sat in the box lol.

Well yeah, but the point is you can buy them yourself as easily as any other necessities.

I just don't understand the obsession with socks.

Looks like I didn't do my research. After looking it up it seems like a pretty pricey product. Cousin literally said "It has okay reviews...I got it off amazon deals...I don't remember why I got it". Looks like I'm gonna clean everyone's car tomorrow with top quality car vacuum.

Worst present my fiancee ever got though is a single bottle of shampoo from her dad that they went to the store together and bought. (and it's not like her dad was struggling with money at the time either)
