There was a thread for this but >2 years old so thought I'd make another.

What ones do you guys play? What have you gotten into (if any) recently?

I haven't really been a cellphone game person, maybe the occasional TD or snes emulators. However, lately, a friend got me to play Eternity Warriors 4 and it's fun as fuck.

It's pretty much warframe, just dungeons that you do. There's a lot of random daily/special stuff to do, so that's pretty cool. So there is some pay to win faster stuff, but not that bad.

For me, it 's great if I have a break/some time to burn and just do a dungeon or two and log in for daily rewards.

I recently started playing racing games like Asphalt 8 and Real Racing 3. Good stuff. I also enjoy the classic clash of clans and boom beach.

Emulators have always been fun on a smartphone. Been thinking of getting one of those bluetooth controller attachments as well.

I'd recommend super casual things like: Dark Echo, Blek, Archanoid, o k a y ?, Bicolor, Battleflood, Orbits. Pretty sure most of them are available for Android and Win.

I've never regretted the 3$ I spent on super hexagon. Its good for incredibly brief stints, you can lose a dozen times in a couple of minutes if you're bad enough.

got it from a humble bundle. i can put the .apk on dropbox if anyone's interested. definitely worth the 3 bucks though.

I'm not surprised you attempted to turn this thread into anime, after mentioning you apparently have no phone, Pankeyman.

I applaud you for that.

On a few other notes

Geel9I haven't found a smartphone game with compelling gameplay yet

Can you define compelling? Something that grabs you for longer than 5 min? 10 min? 20 min? Is it something that is quantifiable for you? For me, if it's something that I only ever play for 5-10 min a day, but every now and then I pick up to dabble in, it's "compelling" enough for me.

I can understand in general 'phone games' don't really have the appeal to 'gamers' like us, but sometimes you'll be doing fuck knows what, bored out of your mind, and away from your pc, and sometimes, cellphone games actually have a decent place among us.

As long as a cell phone game doesn't try to be too ambitious (like idk, witcher 20 is on android or apple) or some shit, then I'm okay with whatever really.

I have never actually played this at all (even on PC). Time sinks are good. Would you recommend?

simpsons tapped out is quite fun to play, you just spend 5-10 min playing and you only need to turn on the game like 4 or 5 times a day

my current library:

Punchquest (2 button infinite runner about punching/questing)
Clash of Clans (quitting soon)
Boom Beach (probably better game than CoC)
Temple Run (always fun to go back to)
Alpaca Evolution/Alpaca Evolution 2/I Am Giraffe (weird)
Nimble Quest (like Snake but the snake is made of fantasy warriors under your control and they have to kill enemies)
Kingdom Rush (best mobile TD game besides Bloons TD)
X-Men Arcade (for when my friend hangs out and we wanna smash some mango sentinels over bluetooth)

Ascension, a "card game" created by some MTG pros many years ago has a great mobile version. It's quicker than playing the real thing but has the exact same design. It's a fun once in a while turn based game or could play a single game in 20 minutes while killing time. Cool strategies and combos, there's a card combo in a few sets that allows you to play an infinite set of turns (albeit very very rare to pull off).
