did the youtubers get a chance to scrim? iirc didnt the community team during communities vs pros get some form of coaching/scrims before they played, so that they had some inkling of an idea how to push the maps?

I was in mumble for a total of about 2 hours today answering questions about maps and stuff, but this is a much more "thrown together" kind of event than the community v pro events from way back when. No scrims. They're going pretty damn well considering how little they've known the event was going to happen.

So, we got rolled. Surprisingly, I didn't bottom frag! This likely means I am med-high level pub trash, and progress is progress. I'd like to thank anyone and everyone that came out to watch, it means a lot to us Youtubers. If anyone missed it, I know ArraySeven and King Raja will be uploading videos either tomorrow or the next day, so you can catch up there!

Did king raja chop b4nnys head off?

I told him that if he did I'd cup his big, majestic, Indian ball sack, give them a tickle and then stretch them like a canvas and write "I love you" on them.

Raja absolutely slayed with the Pan, there were more golden statues out on the field then there were players!

Honestly, I've been wanting to get back into competitive (I played Steel Engi HL and Steel Solly 6s many moons ago) but I am really busy these days unfortunately. Soon though, for sure. I can't speak for the rest of the YouTubers though, half of them already play comp for their own respective teams!

this would've gone in a whole different direction if the youtuber's roster were a bit different. idk, maybe throw sketcheck in there, who is really skilled at what he does. and despite his putrid fanbase, star_ is reasonably good and could help make that event interesting, i still have no idea why he wasn't there.

raja played well thou.

Quertmaybe throw sketcheck in there [...] star_ is reasonably good

While Sketchek is pretty flashy and resoureful (probably less so when facing players of a higher calibre, who knows), I don't think it would've affected the outcome, not to mention he's (allegedly) terminally ill

Star_ played in plat before iirc

I thought it was really good for what it was, the youtubers seemed to enjoy playing and it was pretty entertaining to watch, hopefully we can get more events like this in the future, it was worth staying up late to see even if it was not very close.

*let's organize an exciting event to build hype for the competitive community, but schedule it for almost immediately after it was announced so that most of the big YouTubers involved don't have time to announce it on their channels and build hype for the event*

Maybe change the logistics a little if you guys do another one?

Might go watch the VOD; sounds like it was a really fun idea. Thanks to everyone who put this on, and the players for taking the time to participate.

sketchek is dying in real life and no longer plays video games
he has a short window of time to complete real life stuff in general, not waste his time with something like this.

clyph0rd*let's organize an exciting event to build hype for the competitive community, but schedule it for almost immediately after it was announced so that most of the big YouTubers involved don't have time to announce it on their channels and build hype for the event*

The "event" was originally going to just be youtubers vs a pug team based around b4nny and clockwork. It was scheduled a little while ago, and was less of an event and more of a "we're gonna get in a server and record a few games" for the youtuber's channels (hence the midnight est start). Raja (stapler) approached me with a question about configs or something, and I said "I could see if tftv is able to cast it". TFTV got a production team together, and it got casted (really well, I might add).

The main community-wide benefit will most likely come from the videos put out on Raja and array's channels that will let their audiences know "oh competitive isn't some stupid, tryhard crap. i might try it!", which is the main goal of the event anyways. The last video with this many big/ semi-big tf2 youtubers is approaching half a million views.

Hope this clarifies some stuff about the event. :)
