Starting practising lucid dreaming and now I am excited to go to sleep and can focus more on it without letting my mind dwell on dumb things that keep you from sleeping

Also I used to listen to ASMR while falling asleep, but when I stopped doing that my quality of sleep defenitly improved

Sleep specialist Dr. Amer Khan of the Sutter Neuroscience Institute advised that using ASMR videos as a sleep aid may not be the best method for quality sleep and said they may become a habit similar to using a white noise machine or a baby using a pacifier for falling asleep.

However listening to it before going to sleep can really calm you down

as a kid i'd often get warm milk with honey if i couldn't sleep. made me feel all comfortable and sleepy.

nowadays i mostly use sounds / asmr, or babbling in languages i don't understand - like listening to radio-stations on which they do nothing but talk.
for asmr, i'm particularly fond of keyboard typing sound. something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u92sXtFyPzI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc9JaWbv2O0
or other random sounds, like controllers being used, rubik's cubes being solved or pencil drawing/writing on paper (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zz4NLgfYgA).
(youtube has a ton of these kinds of clips if you're interested.)
and i love rainy nights.

I'm in a weird predicament where my body doesn't produce nearly enough melatonin, I'd had trouble falling asleep for years until my doctor tried melatonin tablets (which work like a charm). So while searching for an answer I tried loads of methods that supposedly help you fall asleep. These are the ones I remember:

•Eating lettuce(?) this was a weird one, recommended to me by a doctor
•f.lux
•Classical music
•asmr
http://asoftmurmur.com/ --this one was really nice. Rain + Thunder + Coffee Shop together was my favourite
•Milk
•Bananas
•Good sleep hygiene
•Not playing any videogames at least 2.5 hours before bed
•Lying in bed, eyes closed, not moving and trying not to fall asleep
•Reading
•Camomile tea
•Counting my breaths

I always drink some warm milk to sleep. Either that or listen to some music. Also I don't like a quiet enviroment when I'm sleeping. That's why I always watch youtube or let the TV on for the night.

Take a shower and slowly edge the water down until it's cool (think cool enough that you could drink it). Stand in the water until you're comfortable, then dry off and go straight to bed. Your body temperature will be lowered and it'll be easier to fall asleep.

If I have some stuff on my mind, I do some sudokus (on paper) before sleeping. They don't allow too much random thoughts, and for me they are easy enough (as long as I don't pick the hardest ones :p) to complete without becoming too focused. Once I get stuck and can't solve them anymore I just put them away and usually fall asleep.

Listening others yawning in Mumble calms me down pretty well. :)

listening to chill/ambient/noise music after going to bed helps me relax if i had an active/stressfull day but i turn it off before i actually start to go to sleep, since any good music will stimulate your brain.

I quit caffeine, none period. Not that caffeine really helped me stay awake but removing it made me much healthier in general as I cut out all soda and a ton of sugar in the process, that helped a lot.
