it replaces ubersaw which i dont think most medics would bother using it, plus most of the time medics and/or pocket soldiers don't have a problem keeping track of uber advantage/disadvantage.

you hit someone with the saw you gain advantage, and if a medic spawned up i dont think he would bother switching to that weapon just to check because you would lose uber % just for going through that. you're well aware when the other team is gonna have it and you don't

I think you're over simplifying it a bit. Unless you see it, you can't account for whether a medic has been healing people at all times. And if you knew exact %'s pushing on that advantage would be a lot easier knowing you have 36% advantage vs "roughly 30" is a pretty big deal.

Every team I've played with since season 5 has just called out uber times based on the minimum amount of time they could possibly be taking to build another. If you know when their medic spawns/ends uber/etc. you can probably estimate within a good 5% of what their percentage is. Solemn vow really does not afford a massive advantage since anything it is doing for you is fairly easily made up by other members of your team comming and watching the enemy team properly. It might be nice to call focuses at mids, but even then that's probably handled by the pocket and fairly easily estimated.

Too easy to give overheals that keep you from getting 150 headshot. Other than that I don't really care about it.

I feel like allowing the Red Tape Recorder is kinda bad, especially since the Dead Ringer is allowed. While Engineer is not a popular off-class by any means, it is pretty integral to how Gravel Pit is typically played, and the RTR is a buggy overpowered unlock that with minimal skill involved wrecks an Engineer. Even if the Engineer reacts as fast as he possibly can, the RTR will always downlevel a sentry by 1 level, and if it downlevels a Dispenser it takes away all the metal inside of it. All you have to do is use the Dead Ringer to suicide sap buildings and you get easy downlevels on everything.

I don't think anyone doubts it's an upgrade over the targe, it's just that stickies. It's more of in the lame zone more than anywhere near overpowered.

I agree completely, it leads to some pretty stupid strategies on a map that a lot of people hate in the first place. Considering that only 2/7 voted to ban it, it seems like the majority of voters don't really know how overpowered the weapon is, unless the thought is that spies aren't drawn towards a sentry anyway, so why ban the weapon since now spies have an option to go for the buildings over players.

Maybe in invite this won't be a problem, but in open I can see teams running a spy to get that sentry out of the way, since oftentimes the sentry is the real problem, not uber, that teams have pushing into gravelpit B.

It takes 1.6 seconds for the RTR to downgrade a sentry 1 level, it takes exactly 1.6 seconds for an Engineer to swing his wrench twice once you count melee weapon firing delay I believe so unless if you basically start pre-firing the 1st wrench hit (completely unreasonable), it's going to get downgraded no matter what. Plus in a real game if you get caught off guard or the Spy does stuff while your team is distracted by people near C, you're realistically looking at probably 2 downgrades(unless if you break the Sapper first and let the Spy shoot you a bunch I suppose), so now defense has a shitty level 1 SG. You basically have to make sure a Spy never ever gets remotely near your Sentry gun, because the instant he does you are going to lose a huge amount of firepower, it seems pretty unreasonable to have to dedicate so much focus to something just because even if you react perfectly it's going to fuck you over anyways.

It matters for the same reason the Wrangler (or any of the Engineer bans) does, even though you will almost never see an Engineer off-class, it matters on Gravel Pit where Engineer is in basically every match. The RTR makes the Engineers job neigh useless.

Going to be interesting seeing if the Babyface Blaster gets used by scouts on defense to build the speed up then book it for backcaps.

EDIT: Another thought, if a Scout uses the Blaster on rollouts they can hang back with the medic to build uber with the Boston Basher then cover the flank. Yes you're sacrificing a bit of firepower on mid but being able to get uber early would allow for a immediate push off of mid.

But it also does 15 damage and doesn't crit or minicrit burning enemies, no real reason to use it over any other secondary the pyro has.

You can repair a DH soldier. You cannot repair against the RTR without losing a level. Also, you can't compare a soldier who can get shot at and noticed beforehand to a spy that can get behind cover and come from somewhere you normally wouldn't check. If a soldier gets on B point (where spies usually uncloak and attack from) there will be a notice that the point is getting capped. Spies won't trigger this. Spies also don't get shot at instantly.

It's dumb enough to get banned.
