choochooTendaMonstashampooconditionerhey demo mains can m1 m2 again lmaoWe could pretty much do that with nerfed stickies (they just didn't do an ass load of damage).
which was the point of the nerf. 100+ aoe damage twice per second is retarded, but i guess the tf2 community won't rest until demo is the only good class in the game.

you sound like a ugc paper buttmad scout/soldier main

Even in this thread about primarily demos I could sense your soldier hate, lol.

(I think you are the Tom I think you are, and I'm the mole I am)

OT: I think a slight but different nerf could work, though the meta is fine as it is.

Like I said in my first post, interested to see some reactions of people who supported the change initially. I imagine they won't be quite the same, given that Valve pretty much guaranteed a (hopefully fairer) nerf in the future though.

I don't see what your point is in saying this... Obviously the people who supported the change played the game the way it was beforehand. They welcomed the change because it freshened up the game. Do we got our panty's all tied up in a knot over it like the over reacting kids?? No we generally go commando so we don't have to worry about them knots.

The match vs froyo last night had more stalemates than my entire previous week of games (including the bo3 vs epsilon in our showmatch). The majority of posters in the update threads want slower gameplay, and that's what they're going to get.

Personally, I'm disappointed with the recent patch. I was enjoying coming up with new ways to defend in transition fights as well as new ways to push without uber, but now we're back to the same old uber gameplay. However, the sticky nerf significantly increased the skill cap of roamer, so I'm a bit biased.

As a spectator and not a player, I have to say that yes, I did want slower game play to some degree. I don't know if this goes for everyone who enjoys watching TF2, but I like it because it combines the elements which make other FPS successful. There's the positioning you get from tactical shooters, mobility you get from arena shooters and still the gun play is solid as well, which makes the DM fights fun to watch.

In my opinion, the way Valve effected the nerf lessened the quality of some of the elements I just mentioned. There seemed to be more of a focus on raw DM fights and less on positioning and carving out space carefully. I also feel that a lot of the transitions and übers were tactically uninteresting to watch and ended up being sloppy quite often. There were a fair amount of Gullywash stalemates yesterday, yes, but I enjoyed the match immensely. On the other hand, I do understand that as a player it can get boring having a stand-off while waiting for a pick. I suppose this is true especially for the roamer, since you're often the one who ends up having to bomb in and die, sometimes several times without getting any return on your efforts.

I think there is room for a nerf which lessens stalemates while still allowing for a nice balance of DM fights and tactical play(on some maps or even some specific points there is maybe too much of a focus on über pushes indeed), but it wasn't the one Valve implemented. Do you feel that if there were a lesser nerf implemented, the game would still open up a bit more to off-über pushing and less Demoman-focused defence during transitional plays, or would it have to be quite a drastic change to allow for that to happen?

My problem with the nerf was that it changed the core of the game. But then again, thats the reason that some people (including you i guess) liked the patch. I for one gotta say that I found that match amazingly fun to watch. You guys played freakin fenomonal in 2nd half, and I'm pretty sure most peoples' jaws dropped :D. Imo, those last really fast rounds where so much fun because of the previous slower ones. I don't know, I've always really liked the meta. Its what made me pick up the game after all.

And what do you mean with the previous nerf increasing roamer skill cap?

I think he means that since demo did less damage with stickies, bombing in as a roamer was a bit easier since the initial demo spam you might've taken was not as huge as it would've been with "normal" stickies.

I think that just lowers the skill cap not raises it, not sure thats what he meant

I think Seagull's comment meant that getting a demo wasn't a be-all and end-all pick for roamer. With sticks as they are now, trading yourself for a demo is almost always a high value trade. With sticks nerfed, trading for demo wasn't as important, so you needed to be able to get the demo and someone else, or prioritize the med.

Or the demo just doesn't do enough damage for the roamer to follow up. Therefore, roamers needed to do more work in order to be useful, setting up better traps and aiming better rockets :P

Plat, please say it is not so as you posted that after the nerf revert..

However, as there is no mechanic in the engine to monitor air dets, only watching games would allow any monitoring. I guess it is so.

Valve know when a sticky is on the ground because of the ramp up damage for ground stickies so they can know from that whether or not a sticky is in the air.

I'm pretty sure that mechanic does not and has never existed.

Stickys don't have fall-off damage after 5 seconds and have reduced close-range-rampup.

Not saying they can't tell when a sticky is airborne though, but i never heard about stickys doing more damage just because they are sticking to a surface.

I have not heard of this. However, this could of also fallen from a roof trap by another enemy explosion, and would not prove m1%2 air det. IF that is their issue with the launcher.

When your sticky lands on a surface it has a slight glow which fades over time then there's a small flash around the sticky. The damage is reduced when the sticky lands and the reducing glow indicates the damage is increasing back to normal which is reached when the flash happens.

Edit: damage falloff not ramp up I meant. That's where the confusion was.
