Hey, I'm interested in starting a bball website. I have a few ideas around it being leagues and tornaments, other community events, sponsoring, etc. I am looking for a website designer to work with and help set up the technical side of it. I will be paying an agreed upon amount, but mainly looking for someone who's interested in bball and making it bigger. If you can fill the shoes, have suggestions/questions, want to talk, etc., please add me and I'll help how I can! I appreciate your time and we can make this work!

renxzenBball league would be supercool. Specially if it has different divisions, like Northamerica, Southamerica, Europe, Asia, Australia, etc.
Are you aiming it to be the ugc of bball?
Have you considered other mini-team modes like ultiduo or mge2v2?

More ultiduo stuff would be brilliant.

Yes, I want this to be the UGC of bball. All complete will separate divisions for each area of the world as well. There will be no sandbagging lol. As for your second question, those are both good ideas. I believe the most popular of the three would be bball (especially for me), but I'm sure adding those other options would be cake.

A league of bball and ultiduo with the same system of matches of esea/etc (regular season, semi-finals, grandfinals) that runs for seasons it's an extremely good idea, even more with divisions of continents. Where do i donate?

I'm planning on funding most of it, at least to start out, but feel free to add me if you'd like to help out monetarily. I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks again for the feedback :)

renxzenOk guys, show some support to pinkfloyd193. He is truly commited to this and i believe all of us can do this international bball (and maybe ultiduo too) league work.

He needs:
  • Support and show of interest from the bball community
  • Website designer
  • Admins on Northamerica, Southamerica, Europe, Asia, Australia, Other Regions.

He's willing to pay for the most part himself, but that doesn't mean we can't donate to make this the deal it deserves to be.

Thanks again for the support. I'm dedicated to make this big, so lets do it!

I know some guys, but most of them worked in the music industry and don't really have any relationship with the comp tf2 scene. However if you gave them the right input and info, (and maybe materials like SFM renders and stuff) you could end up with something wicked.

I used to work with this guy on a 3 man design team over in Michigan, extremely nice and has awesome experience: http://weareskye.com/

I know how to use Adobe Muse, and you can build pretty much whatever you want without knowing HTML, but it might not be the end result you want. Idk, add me on steam if you wanna talk more, I'm interested.

Stimpackhow are you planning to punish people sitting in the hoop to prevent capping?

1. Sitting on the hoop is going to be illegal. Punishment is up in the air, but I want disqualification (edit: disqualification for that game only)

2. That would be amazing. I've added you and we can chat about what can happen!

Yes, I would be providing all of the pictures for the web design, with collaboration, of course. Being a music enthusiast as well, I'd love to talk their ear off and see if we can come up with something. I am planning on separating duties of the website to get everyone in their comfort zone.

Figured I would give an update separate from my responses.

We now have the website domain, hosting, and a temporary site up at bball.tf as just a "coming soon" page. We have 2 coders and possibility of a few people for design. I'm looking to get an opinion from the group on the format of the league, because that's where we're at in development. Should the league be...

1. free form league play. challenge your own opponents within each division and gain ladder based points (much like mge scoring) for each match, win, etc. There will be rules to where you can't challenge the same person more than once or twice per season as well as some other rules to prevent people from rigging the system. Teams will have to complete one match 7-10 days after their last match was reported, and a minimum amount of matches played to be eligible for the playoffs.

2. Basically UGC style. Set match times (negotiable between the two teams, of course), set match opponents, and all that jazz.

Things that both options will include: on website score reporting and separate divisions for skill levels and regions. IF you want to give your input before this starts and decide which league to do, please do it now, while we are still flexible with the coding.

i think set opponents works better but thats just me, sweet your getting the website up! i've been sorta-ish trying to learn html, i know the bare basics but not enough to take on a project like this.

good luck!

Just wondering here, but what are your guys thoughts on the shotgun, whenever I watch a high level bball game or play bball myself, having 4 shotguns on the court just seems like too many, due to how easily they stop momentum and basically slow the game down.

So what if instead of both players on a team using the shotgun only one soldier per team was allowed a shotgun(and the other obviously using gunboats), as not only would this (hopefully) make it less of a dm fest full of suicides because no-one has health to jump, and even when they do their perfect rj to the hoop gets denied by 30dmg shotgun that kills their speed, but it would also give more of a set role for the players, as the gunboats solly would become the designated intel carrier focused on getting to the hoop as fast as possible. while the player with the shotgun plays more of a defensive bruiser role, to deny the other teams gunboat soldier and deal as much damage as possible.

I also feel this would bring bball more inline with ultiduo except instead of the best pocket and and medic combo bball would be the best pocket and roamer combo.

Having gunboats soldiers is really frustrating to defend against because it's possible to jump into the hoop with 28hp without gunboats (27dmg rocket jump), which means with gunboats you can make the hoop with 12hp. Also a lot of people like to do the shit where they jump up, strafe wildly, land somewhere random, jump again, strafe wildly again, and repeat until they make the hoop. It's nice to be able to deny that strategy with the shotgun, unless you really enjoy shooting rockets at people who are strafing randomly to land in random locations. Forcing everyone to run shotgun limits the amount of times someone can jump, which encourages more skillful/efficient jumps. With good jumps it's also pretty easy to get around shotgunning/counterjumping/counterjump shotgunning.

On a side note it'd be cool if the righteous bison was allowed. I wanna see bison airshots.

In response to both of you, I do intend to eventually branch off some leagues (still keeping the original shotty league as an option). I have thought of no shotgun (with and without gunboats), as well as an everything goes league (except direct hit and reserve shooter). As of the initial season, we're just going to do regular bball and ultiduo. Most of what I've heard is for a the second option of more structure, we'll be deciding this on sunday, so please let me know if you're strongly against that move.

Sorry if I'm late to the game here...

If you need more developers, send me a friend request on Steam. I've done a lot of basic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and some basic database stuff, but individually - I'd like to work on some team projects. I certainly can't lead a project, but I'd love to contribute any way I can.
