Anyone play the game yet? Watched some of it on stream, but seemed like the type of game where if you watched it in advance you'd miss out on a lot. Pretty funny though.

Just finished it. In short fucking amazing game, but it is really southpark-y, so if you like the show pick it up now if not you can pass on it, there is alot of inside jokes that relate to the show and how things are used etc... sure its 60$ but I got more enjoyment out of this game then any other that has been released in the past 2 or so years

A friend owed me some money and ended up buying it for me.

Really solid RPG set in the South Patk universe. Tons of callbacks and references to old episodes. You can tell Matt and Trey really took their time with this. The humor and everything is spot on. It's a bit much right now but if you like South Park you definitely want to pick it up.

Just to give you an idea of the USD inflation rate; $50 in 2000 is equal to $67.92 in 2014. So if this game came out in 2000 it would cost $44.17.

You can get Fallout NV Ultimate, an almost universally praised game with at least a hundred hours and very repayable, for under $20, which makes $60 seem like a crazy amount. TF2 is (almost) free.

But you couldn't buy either of those games originally at that price point. Those games are at a way later part of the revenue cycle. Also TF2 has completely no context in this scenario because it's a multiplayer game with ingame transactions, that's like comparing TF2 to WOW, completely different business models.

Fallout New Vegas was a sequel to another wildly successful rpg, and has had a fuckton of expansion packs. It also doesn't have to pay licensing for the majority of their content. If you want to total the comparative price (Price of game at same time post-launch) Fallout New Vegas would have set you back $120 (Full game plus all the dlc)

If you want to see more games like this, the best way to support that is to buy this game. Speak with your wallet guys.

The fact that a ton of the folks from this game are now working on Pillars of Eternity, gives me some hope that my KS money won't go to waste.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/03/05/you-can-get-south-park-the-stick-of-truth-at-25-off-until-this-friday/

Deal alert for those looking to finally buy South Park: The Stick of Truth after the numerous release delay (one big hurdle among them being the death of its previous publisher, THQ). If you’ve read all the reviews since yesterday’s release and you’ve made up your mind in joining Cartman’s crazy antics in this tactical RPG, you can count yourself lucky because the PC Steam key version of Stick of Truth is 25% off at GMG. A solid $15 off just after release day? Seriously you guys. This is the best news ever?

South Park: The Stick of Truth is only $45 at Green Man Gaming
Use coupon code VRW14X-M2YVEU-B0C9OT (if you’re in North America)
Use coupon code KCE1U6-JJ96XO-IR5W7L (if you’re NOT in North America)

did the main storyline + every sidequest in just under 13 hours. it doesn't have the hundreds of hours of gameplay that a game like skyrim would have, but if you're a south park fan you definitely need to pick this up. it's very south park, outrageous, funny, and i felt like it was all of south park jam packed into those 13 hours. the writing, animations, soundtrack, and gameplay were all top notch -- i loved every moment of it. not very much replay value, but i'd go through it again in 6-12 months. i rewatch episodes of the show all the time and with 4 classes to play it's enough variety to make it fun again.

it really does feel like you're playing through another episode of SP

^^

Also, if you're considering buying the DLC for $10 extra it's not really worth it. You get some extra costumes at the beginning of the game and that's about it (however I think you need to buy the DLC to unlock the achievement associated with having all possible costumes in the game).
