"no incentive for open teams to play in esea other than a weekend watching high level tf2"

so since youre gonna allude to esea being a waste of time for open teams please tell me why because if its not for the competition/getting better as a team i dont fucking know what you could be talking about

hi tftv

Sorry I haven't made a formal introduction yet. As far as I know I can't even post anything from now on without getting killing's approval. Anyway, If you're at all hesitant about playing ESEA next season or have any questions feel free to add me on steam. Hopefully I can inspire all of you to dream big and get into invite to get 4th over and over like me

KevmeisterDoes the winner of this go to i52?

The american delegation will be determined by the team that wins both CEVO and ESEA this season.

Then someone needs to pay for the team(s) to go, because we know the players can't afford it (in the majority).

I don't understand why teams that are focused on improving and have 2.5-3 hrs/night wouldn't be happy to play more matches and less scrims. Matches = more serious = better practice = better results. At least when I played matches I usually remembered things much more clearly and had my flaws stand out more and the good shit that I did was more reinforced vs. just being in a scrim, esp since most teams I've seen tend to find the few teams that are right around their skill level and play them like 70% of the time and then the occasional roll against a team much worse or an occasional getting rolled by a team much better.

Are invite/main moves finalized? it doesn't look like all of those rosters will be used and what about rent-a-homies/street hoops?

I would hate to see ESEA stop supporting TF2 but at the same time I can appreciate why people would not want to play after everything that has happened. I cannot forsee ESEA ever coming back to Europe after the shambles of a first season, I feel like I wasted my time and money in the league.

It's important to note to all the Open players, you get somethigng from entering ESEA, it's a worthless argument to say there is no incentive besides watch a LAN, you get a share of the prizes albeit a smaller one correct? You get all the normal services, it all arrives as one complete package.

However it is really important for invite players to recognise this league has treated it's customers like shit, if they choose to not participate you cannot blame them for not doing it, you'd expect nothing less if you got poor customer service from any organisation. And by picking to play CEVO over ESEA, you're not killing competitive TF2, merely weakening the strength of the scene.

Of course I agree with Platinum's sentiment - Play as much as you can get - CEVO, ESEA, UGC.

I don't think that two weeks is enough notice for a pay league. I don't think you'll reach last season's signup numbers unless you allow people more time. There are tons of people still that are still lft, and dozens of teams that lack key players.

I think that giving people another 1-2 weeks would have made your company a lot more money from team signups.

TF2 teams are traditionally late/slow when it comes to getting everyone paid.

if ESEA open doesn't get enough registered teams, they will most likely drop TF2 from the league. please everyone get your shit together and go register

Killing in the Name #esea: there's no revenue
Killing in the Name #esea: esea loses money
♔Quindali: alright, so then is there a chance tf2 will not be a part of esea s16?
Killing in the Name #esea: if there's not enough open teams yes
Killing in the Name #esea: you can't expect us to run a season with 2 teams in open

$15 to pay in a tf2 league with an anti-cheat client on your own servers with stats superior to the ESEA stats. As opposed to around $35 (premium plus league fees) to play in a league with a fubar cheatclient so that high level players can meet up and play video games together. I'll go with the first option.

I'd imagine that there is a set of magic numbers that need to be reached in order to allow for TF2 sponsorship/IM/Main.

I remember that it was simply Open + Invite when you had 30-35 Open teams. I think that such an event could happen again if you wind up with a situation like: 15 Open/15 IM/12 Main/9 Invite

Killing might be told to consolidate non-Invite divisions AND to readjust the prize pot DOWNWARD.

♔Quindali: can you give an estimate or range for how many teams need to be registered in open for s16 to stay viable?
Killing in the Name #esea: 20-30
Killing in the Name #esea: it's not my decision in the end though

There will be an extension on the registration date, there always is. Open will fill up even before the end of this registration period. All of this desperate pleading of these players is unattractive, and if you have played in ESEA long enough you'll know that whats going on is still pretty typical of what is absolutely normal for ESEA.

If you wanted people to respect the deadlines more and be in a rush to get their rosters and get 6 paid, then maybe its a good idea to be more transparent with extensions and exceptions. Also, I don't think the number of rosters in CEVO (77 as of now) is a good portrait of how many teams are actually playing. A lot of these rosters have like 1 or 2 people on the roster.

Stop freaking out and be a little more patient.

last season rosters didn't unlock and move ups didn't happen until the initially announced registration end date had already passed. despite that, there were about 30 teams listed in open at that point. (i distinctly remember because my team was the very first one to register and i fervently checked the listings page every hour cos i'm a weirdo.)

being realistic, open needs 20-30 teams to be registered and as of now there are only 3. i agree with what you said about cevo's 77 teams-- my roster is one of those with only 1 person on it. but with so many new teams clearly deciding to play in cevo, i don't think our worry or anxiety is unwarranted with the clear lack of interest in open this season. ESEA dropping tf2 is a legitimate concern and shouldn't be taken lightly

EDIT: even if registration is extended, that won't do anything if there are no teams to register. yes, people have always been slow to pay up and commit in ESEA but the difference this time is there's real competition for new teams. for the first time, there is another viable option besides esea and that is definitely taking its toll. esea's upper divisions are solid and looking great. open is the problem.
