Still haven't paid. Might go just for cs:go but I'd like to do TF2 obviously. I wanna make sure I've got a team before I get a ticket so if anyone needs a roamer hit me up on steam. I'd be willing to pocket too.

I might go, would be coming from Indianapolis with room for rides. If anyone needs a medic or anything else but demo for a team, let me know :)

Also, if anyone wants to room share, would be awesome.

I still have room for 1 or 2 coming out of Long Island, NY if anyone wants to carpool.

If anyone here is going to the LAN for CSGO as well.. let me know if you dont have a team. I believe they will likely have ringers who dont have a team for TF2 as well. I will play that for fun and such as well as l4d2, just to participate.

Thanks!

Tournaments I care about: SF4 > TF2 > CSGO > L4D2 > DotA2

I've played very little DotA 2 and can basically only play Lich lol.

Other than that, CS:GO and L4D2 would be cool as long as they don't interfere with SF4 and TF2.

Yyyaaaoooo!!!

We're super stoked for our streaming coverage of this LAN.

Tournament singups will go live on their system once we get to the LAN. Teams might shuffle a bit and re-organize, but it'd be great to see what some of the teams are like right now so we can perhaps create some broadcast assets to use in our production.

If you got a team thats set, list it!

There's enough players for an additional HL tournament, but not enough time. The 6s tournament will probably go on for quite some time, and there are already other tournaments (L4D2, csgo, etc...). Some HL pugs could happen on Friday maybe.

There could also be time for HL pugs on Saturday after the 6s.

If you're new to FITES, they do like to run many tournaments and they set them up so that everyone can play in everything. I know they have other tournaments scheduled after 6v6 tf2 like l4d2 and dota. People who aren't playing in those will definitely have more time for tf2.

eXtv will be trying to broadcast all the tourneys, Dashner's focus and the majority of our graphical efforts will be on TF2's 6v6.

Yeah, I remember last time I was there they were open to announcing pugs and stuff if you requested it, so that shouldn't be a problem.

this fites will be my 15th LAN. A lot of the people going I've seen at LANs before, but there are quite a few people on the list I don't remember seeing before. I figured I'd put together this little post with some helpful tips for any first timers, or anyone else who wants to make their LAN experience a little easier.

transporting your PC (vehicle)

- flying with your PC is not recommended. It can be done, but it's a pain in the ass. There is also a good chance of damage to your hardware. The TSA will also give you a hard time about it.

- bus/train is ok, just make sure you keep your stuff with you and not in the luggage area. Theft and/or damage are almost guaranteed if you do that.

- car is the best way to go. If you don't have a car full of people the best way to load the PC in the car is to stand it up on the floor behind the passenger seat, and slide the seat back enough that it's firmly held in place by the passenger seat and the back seat. If you have other people riding with you, the trunk is ok just make sure you pack it so that nothing rolls around.

transporting your PC (on foot)

- the trip from the parking lot to the LAN room at fites isn't that bad, but with a big heavy case it can be a pain. Some cases, like the CM Storm Scout, have built in handles which are great for carrying it around. If your case doesn't have a handle, you might want to check this out.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0009JCUY6?cache=afff582276434fd781fe661502ba9146&pi=SL500_SS115#ref=pd_aw_sims_3

I have one for my tower and it was well worth it.

- transporting your LCD monitor is easy if you kept the original box and all it's packing material. If you still have that, simple repack it and transport it that way. It'll be perfectly safe. If you don't have the box, you can get something like this.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002RSQ732?cache=afff582276434fd781fe661502ba9146&pi=SS115#ref=pd_aw_sims_1

- a cheap $20 piece of luggage from Walmart packed with pillows also makes for decent monitor transportation. You can also lay it screen up on a seat in the car but considering how fragile and expensive they can be I wouldn't suggest it.

security

- remember to set a windows password, and lock it when you go AFK

- if you are playing on a laptop, get one of these (currently on sale).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00000K4KH

- that lock can also be used to secure an LCD monitor (they have the same type of slot on the back). If you thread the lock through a hole on your case, wrap it around a table leg, and lock it into the back of your monitor you can lock everything down. For a PC it's probably overkill, but it's essential for laptops.

- if you have any expensive peripherals, make sure to take them with you if you are going afk for any decent length of time (food/sleep/etc)

I hope these tips will come in handy for someone. See you at the LAN.

Is anyone looking for someone to split a room with? Would be nice to not have to drop that kind of cash to not slum on the LAN floor.

I don't think FITES has ever had an issue with theft, FYI. The whole event is access controlled so if your stuff does get stolen you've pretty much automatically got the 250 suspects... but yeah, good to err on the side of caution, however you shouldn't have to worry.

eXtineThere could also be time for HL pugs on Saturday after the 6s.

Just wondering, to what extent is eXtv providing coverage? Are they running the entire TF2 tourney? Are they running some extra tournaments/events on the side, in things like mge/ultiduo/highlander etc.?

We'll be casting the 6s, as much pug action as possible on Friday night, and the other official FITES tournaments after TF2 concludes on Saturday. We'll be trying to cover the FGC stuff as well.

I'm not sure how much MGE/Ultiduo stuff we're gonna be organizing directly ourselves versus it happening organically.
