AllealStimpackAllealIs there any possibility of tf.tv filling the void with some servers of their own? Are there enough funds from subscribers for something like that? Might be a good opportunity to get tf.tv's name out there.
let's not use "tf.tv" as a synonym for "anybody but me"

I'm not saying I need the servers but am not willing to front the money to run them. I haven't used the iT servers in quite a while, minus mge iT. This is a good opportunity for an active community to fill need and get their name out there. Regardless of what happens I won't really be affected. So when I say tf.TV, I mean tf.TV.

Keep in mind tf.tv is more of a pool of individuals (with a few notable exceptions) than a fluid and well-structured system capable of efficiently distributing workloads. Individuals or small groups of individuals in the community still bear the burden of actually making things happen--klanana paying for iT, enigma running tf.tv, Fog providing dm servers, Lange and his crew for running ToTH. And if you think about it, having "tf.tv" run a jump server (let alone 2 jump servers, 3 surf servers, a bball server, and whatever else) doesn't really make sense. Who gets admin/FTP? Everyone? Who pays? Who is responsible for what? Clearly we can't make paying for a tf.tv server a requirement upon joining the community, nor can we give admin/FTP to every single person within the community. As soon as the possibility of leaving ESEA presented itself earlier, people started pointing fingers at a tf.tv league as well, but at this point that's basically the same thing as pointing fingers at the entire comp tf community, since that's essentially what tf.tv has become.

What I'm suggesting is the equivalent of Fog calling his DM servers tf.tv servers. Tf.tv doesn't actually pay for those servers, because tf.tv is of course not a person. They're free advertising for the community and for this site, which is nice of Fog to do so. But most of the time advertising isn't free, which is why I asked about the revenue generated via subscribers.

The iT community is pretty popular and consists mostly of the same players in the tf.tv community. I feel like it's a worthwhile endeavor for tf.tv to get its name on the set of servers that will almost inevitably take iT's place.

When I said tf.tv this is what I meant. Is this more clear?

This sucks. We need to set up some equivalently functional servers.

I'm in the process of backing up all the critical files for Surf, Jump, SuSurf, and JuJump. I'm ignoring MGE because I'm reasonably certain that I can set one of those servers up from scratch.

Once I've organized everything, I'll see about putting it up somewhere as a more convenient download.

Just a couple recommendations for those offering help:

1. Use FTP to get all the MGE Stats and other stats. MANY people care a lot about those stats.

2. Location: Chicago. Fuck Dallas.

3. Add me if you want tips on keeping the server lag free and general cron jobs and maintenance help. I wont be hosting or constantly helping you guys, but I will comment and give tips from my 3+ years of source server experience.

4. If you make a server with that name; KEEP IT ALIVE. The iT servers stayed alive for a long time, you have a responsibility if you take on this stuff.

Have fun

wezlyyy2. Location: Chicago. Fuck Dallas.

"fuck chicago"

one location isn't gonna work for everybody, if you're so insistent on letting others know how they should do things, why not try doing it for yourself?

sad to see the iT servers go, surf servers were a great place to chill

hey klare, just wanted to say that your servers (jump iT/jujump iT specifically) got me into the competitive scene by showing me there was more to do on soldier than hold w

thank you for taking so much of my free time over the past years.

Plugins are in their own archives. Only private/hard-to-find plugins are included in the downloads. If it's a public, open-source plugin, you can find it on your own. SurfiT download also includes the time record database, so all the times are saved. JumpiT used a different, remote system, so those times are not included. Be sure to read the readme.txt.

Map downloads come with mapcycle.txts for SurfiT and JumpiT, respectively.

Thanks to conductor for cleaning, testing, and packaging the plugin archives.

Darn, sad to see these servers go. Surf iT and SuSurf iT were the only servers I could surf on with 'decent' ping.
