#33: I have the exact same wooden chess board, but I attached a handle to it so it's more portable :)

joined the group aswell. registered on chess.com and lost every match against computer. #googlingeveryopening lol, havent played in like 4 years. probably gonna have ladder anxiety like in sc2 again.
first games against humans went pretty well tho.
first one leaves when i have like 16 seconds left, second just randomly looses queen and third is just all around shit.

Nd5 pretty much forces a trade at some point (obviously I can't do 26. Qxd2?? 27. Qxg6+ Kh8 28. Nf7#) and I have no more threats. gg

I was thinking of 26.Qe4,Bb4 27.Rc1,Bd6 28.Qxe6 etc where I think I would come out a knight ahead but either way I guess it would've been a white win.

Gg, group is growing much faster than I thought, if you are interested in a live tournament, give me some times at which you're not playing tf2.

I like to analyze my own games which I try to do by hand first and then check with an analysis engine. Here's a nice free one which should be good enough for anyone who isn't master level (2000+)

I don't really have time for comments right now but I must say I've never seen that variation for white against the Sicilian, which ultimately was what threw me off (as well as that extremely silly g6 move).

I'm horrible at chess, but how did this checkmate happen? Where did the bishop come from?
The Bishop was sitting on h5 and took something on g6.

Holy shit, this was even more obvious than I thought.
I've been meaning to get beyond the mere knowledge of how pieces move for some time now, but it seems that people are either not interested in chess, or started playing as children and are way too good for me.

Let's see if this works. I started an invite-only group tournament and invited everyone in the group. Once 20 players (so almost everyone) registered it will automatically start. It's 1 day/move and you play 2 games at the same time vs each opponent.
All you have to do is go to chess.com and accept.

The winner gets 3 keys and becomes the new invite chess overlord of tf.tv!

Analysis engine and Graphical User Interface are two different things. If you want a free strong engine (playing strength is ~2900 I think), download Houdini 1.5a: http://www.cruxis.com/download/Houdini_15a.zip

As for GUI I'm using Chessbase 11 but there are some decent free ones out there.

Slin, it says here that the invite is out. Are you sure you didn't receive it?
Sometimes group related news seem to not be shown to you until you visit the group page.

Playing against the computer is weird. If I put it on medium it randomly gifts my pieces, but if I put it on hard I get thrashed. There's no middle ground where it's an appreciable challenge but I can still win.

I realized that for me the hard computer is poop easy most times but the impossible is actually kind of impossible. I guess it's just the way that the difficulty on the computer is "scaled down".
