profact of the matter is i think Lpkane was just getting defensive about the "da bears" comment. honestly though, he didn't run the sc2 department well at all.... there was a lot of hate on team liquid which has ultimately led to the low team numbers in your sc2 division.. (i believe)lpkane#71 if i felt the need to get defensive i would simply erase you from this community

flynn__Except it as a legitimate competitive scene and HUGE developer support

you're confusing "developer support" with "wouldn't exist without the developer hemorrhaging money to make people pay attention to it"
the scene is artificial as fuck and will die the second riot fails to buy their way into a tournament. top players have openly admitted they're only in it for the money.
the tournaments are a joke - hello, the top two teams were both confirmed for cheating on lan by riot
game is shit players are shit anyone who actually likes it is a turd

Riot is getting so much money that they'd have no reason to stop supporting it. And the mistake made at the WC was (and will continue to be corrected) the same how it was in a few Starcraft tournaments. And only one of the top teams was confirmed for cheating.

It took them 3 years to get a spectator client just so they could cast games properly. Before they would get into the games with a developer client and would be a 6th player for a team, it was fucking stupid.

If ESEA took these LoL players advice and stuck with the game just because Riot has the $$$, it would be pretty much equivalent to MLG Halo.

His point is that Dota became a massive competitive game on it's own. The only reason people play LoL in tournaments is because Riot pays those people and tournaments. In fact, I don't even see LoL as having a competitive scene; they have a marketing scene. I guess having a large marketing budget and lots of Reddit followers is all you need for a competitive game now.

you are still not realizing what true support is. supporting a game competitively means you make specific changes to make sure the competitive environment runs smoothly and has the basic needs that all competitive games should have.

riot took years to get spectating in, and you still can't even open spectate any game, the only way to spec games are still by joining off of friends. so you can't actually spectate competitive games unless its being streamed or you have them on your list (like matches that aren't the highest of levels). the way riot makes money is a direct contradiction to the game being competitive, so they are already not supporting competitive play from the start. You have to play the game a shit load to buy all the good heros. than you will have to play even more to buy all the good runes. If you had 5 players that were really good at dota2 they couldn't just move over to LoL and start playing comp games. They wouldn't be able to pick the right heroes or even have the right runes. not to mention they wouldn't have the full access of masteries. How does that make a good competitive environment? it doesn't.

Riot is about making money. It is pretty clear and obvious. The game is extremely casual, which isn't a bad thing. But compared to actual competitive games, LoL is a joke and its really embarrassing. Nothing wrong with liking the game, but its not hard competitively. Have you ever watched it? It's extremely stale because of the lack of any complexity at all at higher levels.

Maybe you consider Riot throwing money at everything support. But they would never make a game change that would add to the complexity of competitive matches, because it would make the game harder and they might loose some 1200 elo players.

Also esea won't be able to work with riots client at all, because riot doesn't know how to code so gg.

d3nyisn't LoL just a bad dota ripoff

it's not a bad version, it's just a simplified version of dota. I've played both LoL and DotA/Dota 2 extensively, and from someone who has experience with both games, it's hard to really say which one is overall better. I enjoy playing Dota 2 much more, it's like watching a blu ray (dota2) vs watching 360p youtube rips (LoL). But, in terms of money making and accessibility, it would ultimately be smarter for them to bring in LoL because it's simpler, more accessible, and the metagame is much much less complex than Dota 2.

It's just the fact of the matter, and if you don't think so you probably haven't played both games and followed the competitive scene for both much.

On the main menu screen it cycles through multiple high ELO matches (usually 2000+ ELO) and you can openly spectate them all.

But it's okay, I'm not trying to convert anyone here, please don't start playing LoL.

that took over 3 years of development to happen, that's pretty fucking pathetic if you ask me. Considering that it is the "biggest esport" in the world.

I think you are assuming I don't play LoL or something. It cycles through 5 and one of them is a normal game. That isn't being able to openly spectate any game. It doesn't cycle through tournament games that aren't being streamed, does it? Do you know how many dota2 shows? (hint: all of them)
