Fully Charged: Questions for Killing/Kalkin?
1

We're having Killing/Kalkin on Fully Charged this week. Feel free to post any questions you'd like asked in here, and we'll try to bring up the good ones.

Obviously, we're going to talk about the quick fix, and other big topics (Main, moving ESEA tf2 to EU, etc) -- so if you want to ask about those things try to be specific.

Pretty sure that was answered with them looking to expand CS:GO into EU first.

Can this fully charged be a bit longer than others, I think the discussion may go on for awhile and an hour may not be enough.

Ruwin, I know you will probably fight hard questioning them about the quick fix but I need to ask these anyway.

1. Why did they not ban the quick fix mid season when it was massively changed?

2. Why did they not give invite teams (or invite teams in the making) at least some of the off-season to mess around with it more and then decide it in an invite poll?

3. Is there any plan to possibly give the quick fix a fair chance to really test its place in ESEA?

4. Do you think this decision, which can and has been inferred by the general TF2 community and Valve as 6s being unable to try new thing and/or being stale, will hurt competitive TF2/ESEA?

5. As a followup to #3, is there any plan to relook at banned weapons and test them to see if they can make sixes better? Some are obviously over powered or just annoying but some bans seem completely unnecessary, some might seem to be overpowered but actually might work out.

I hate including a list because I am pretty sure some people would flip their shit but whatever I will do it anyway. Some weapons could include the Guillotine, Wrap Assassin, Liberty Launcher, Batallions Backup, Reserve Shooter, Demo boots, Caber, Sandvich, Widowmaker, Heatmaker, Cozy Camper and maybe the Solemn Vow but that would be pushing it.

To those shit flipping people who might reply to this list, don't think I believe these weapons are balanced and should be included in 6s immediately or that I don't understand the reasons they are banned. What I am saying is that they might be something to think about and to test if there is any viability to them.

potIs ESEA upgrading/adding new servers anytime soon for NA TF2

the season 15 announcement thread:

Increased number of League servers on new hardware to ease scheduling availability

i would hope this means tf2 will be getting additional servers that aren't complete shit, maybe some more chicago/dallas instead of pure east or west coast servers. who knows what that statement really means though.

for killing/kalkin: what are your (or ESEA's) ideal number of teams in each division? (ie 9 teams in invite, 12 teams in main, 30 teams in IM, ~60 teams in open)

1. If you realize that a 9 team invite season is better for scheduling, why are you making it a 10 team season?

2. Since the IM grand finals were played off client and the losing team just forfeited, can we expect this to be the normal procedure going forward when there are ESEA client/server issues? If not, and if it is against the rules, why was it allowed for the finals?

@#20

i feel like it can't be against the rules unless they ban forfeiting (aka if one team doesn't show up the other team can never play rofl)

Why did ESEA decide to ban the battalion's backup mid-season (s9? idk which season it was eXactly) because it represented a severe change to the meta, but didn't follow that policy with the Quick-Fix as soon as Valve gave it a buff to a level that severely changed the meta?

If the quick-fix changes weren't enough to justify banning it mid-season, how come the traditional captain's vote for banning was disregarded? Will ESEA stick with allowing captain's to decide the meta? Or will the league admins be directly shaping the items used in ESEA 6s?

As a follow up on the same topic, do you think HRG's performance at i49 was influenced by the fact that ESEA allowed the quick fix?

Could ESEA develop a system to properly place new teams in the right divisions. Now that main has been introduced, the open division is pretty much for new players (and it does a great job at that).

Why not have a rule that if a team has more than a certain amount of players (say 3) that have played on main+ before, then that team gets placed in IM instead of open? And if they don't meet that requirement they get placed in open instead.

Not sure how they could possibly make a system for that due to the fact that most of the former invite/IM players who are in open are playing offclasses.

They'd have to modify the system to record what classes each player starts on.
