#tf2.pug.na New Map Ideas

Hey guys, lately for #tf2.pug.na we've been thinking about changing up the map rotation for our system. What we've decided to do is allow one new, non-ESEA rotation map into our pug rotation system. What we want from you guys is to list off maps that you would like to see in the rotation for the pug system. We're looking for high quality maps that are tailored for the competitive community (or works well in an competitive environment).

With that being said, we've also been tossing around the idea of setting up a separate pug service for new maps to get more exposure and better testing for mappers interested in the competitive community. For this idea, I'd also like your thoughts to see about if such a system would be something wanted by the community.

Let me know what you guys think about both ideas and suggestions that you may have.

EDIT: Poll here to vote new map into rotation: http://poll.pollcode.com/3jmo9

By another pug service, do you mean another IRC pug channel exclusively for non-ESEA maps?

Given the huge number of new players, I think a separate channel in between pugna and mix is what people would want out of another channel, and given that new map pugs haven't gone well at all, being entirely based around new maps might not work well.

Can you remove the old version of Metalworks and Process from the map rotation Fog?

the problem with introducing new maps in pugs is the fluctuation between players who have never played it to players who know it very well. It creates a bad learning environment and even worse way to test new maps.

It's similar to why gpit is a bad pug map: team coordination and know-how just isn't strong enough for the pug to be playable (for obvious reasons)

MAYBE/hopefully a dedicated 'new map pug' system will help this but in my opinion the best way to test new maps is with two teams.

already in the rotation

kermit_Can you remove the old version of Metalworks and Process from the map rotation Fog?

Yeah, that was the original intention of the discussion I had with java-b. The maps are going to be updated sometime today.

EDIT: already done

cp_vanguard was the one map from new map pugs that I really liked, not sure what the most recent version is.

this is a great idea. alongside the old pug system i'd like to see a secondary/separate one with some newer maps. there are already quite a few maps that are being made that need to be tested more. cp_wetcoal, cp_edifice, cp_derecho, koth_canopy, cp_vanguard, cp_quay, cp_croissant, maybe some others as they're introduced/found, etc.
this would be pretty cool to see and would be extremely useful for map makers like me.

i don't actively use #tf2.pug.na but if a secondary/separate pug service for these types of new maps was introduced i'd certainly start using it much more often (as would more members of the mapping community in general, this could be a good thing for maps in general IMO)

it would also give more incentive for new versions of new maps to come out more often, as people would be actually playing them and actively giving feedback. if a second pug system was developed i'd recommend putting in a sort of feedback plugin as well (there was one developed for tf2maps' servers, you can probably get it in some way: http://forums.tf2maps.net/showthread.php?t=19186) for easier and more concise feedback.

all in all, i support the idea of a second/separate pug service for newer maps and i would certainly use it often.

I could set it at any time, really. However I'm waiting for more feedback first before doing anything else

Why don't you just update the pug.na map pool with a new map or 2? Along with updating/removing old versions of maps on there.
I don't think many pugs would be played on an entirely new channel.

I'm not sure why exactly, but something's telling me this channel might work out. I mean it works basically the same as how NMP worked except with one different step, which would be adding up to IRC.
