It's an older computer from what I know so once the part is singled out, it should be pretty cheap to replace. Why don't each of his teammates just pinch in like $6-12/ea. and buy a used replacement part off eBay. You guys already pay $7/mo. to use a bitcoin miner. Just really don't want threads like these popping out all over the place.

It sucks not having the cash to get a new computer/parts, but it's not a matter of life and death. Children with cancer and other medical emergencies are more relevant to fundraising than the support of a hobby.

I'm really not trying to be a dick when I say that. I've gone without some "household standard items" for extended periods of time on and off, and it really is shitty, but honestly not worth the money for most strangers to another stranger.

If at all possible, the affected person should seek employment or other source of income to remedy their current situation then support their hobby.

as far as 90% of this community is concerned it's some random guy from a mid open team, if you really think the reason they don't want to donate is just because you made the thread then you're delusional

If you can spare the cash, w, my grandmother spotted my computer on QVC for like $4-500. I have a few configs but can run TF2 and most games at decent or good settings. Can't hurt to check.

you're one hell of a fucking guy you know that, if any invite player or known caster made a thread about their pc needing repairs every single person in the community would leap at the chance to show their sympathy but as soon as someone below that status speaks up about needing some help it's fake. best community ever right here.

She didn't say its fake???

She reasonably stated that needing repairs on a computer and fundraising for someone whose sister was in a tragic car accident are starkly different.

pretty sure one of the main reason Vector died was because of computer problems, nothing like what you're describing happened.

There's kind of a big difference between an invite player that has been involved in the community for about 5 years and everyone knows who's family just had a life changing accident and someone who anyone has barely even heard about and its computer breaks down

If someone's spending their money they want something out of it. In the case of a charity, it's the satisfaction of knowing that you've helped someone in actual need not some random person whose gaming pc died (but still has a spare pc to use while said gaming pc is out of commission). In the case of donating to a top level player or i49, it's the promise of entertaining tf2 games to watch.

The hostile reaction you're getting is from the following:

1. People don't know of or remember hooey relative to the new now more prominent huey.

2. The cause in general is one generally all of us face

3. If you asked for specific parts then well it would have all gone a lot better.

If my shit up and broke and I had no recourse, I'd definitely make a post asking if anybody had a spare xx part laying around that I could bum off of them for a discount - because it's pretty rare that something will break and take literally every component with it lol and some of us do happen to have random junk parts stored around the house. I know I have a crappy graphics card and a bunch of wiring and an HDD just laying around.

I used to play on a $350 laptop. I ran at 640x480 res with dxlevel 80 and the lowest possible settings using chris' max frames. I got like 30 fps (my laptop would overheat and it would drop down to 10 fps every 5 minutes for a minute) I used this for about 2 years (before I played ESEA and from Season7 to mid Season10. A video of what it looked like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEeX1LdTR0U - My new PC is literally a potato. Takes 20 minutes for everything to load up on my computer. 1 minute to load tf2 (used to be like 5-10 minutes before steampipe). 2 minutes to connect to a server (used to 5-10 minutes before steampipe).

I think we'd all love to believe that except you really aren't, its not a troll or a flame or trying to put you down, but its been like 2 years and you keep saying you've changed and you're still the exact same.

Adding nice little things like "enjoy your day" after posts does not mean you've changed as a person.

Sorry to derail, but seriously dude, cmon.
