What do you currently have?

Edit:

Ultrazcurrent processor: i5 3570k
current video card: GTX 650ti 2GB

RIP any intelligence I had left.

But yeah, if that's what you currently have, there is 0 reason you should be getting bad FPS in tf2. Your problems may be elsewhere.

tf2 is cpu intensive so upgrading your cpu is the best option

You should have no problem with that CPU in TF2.

Try overclocking your CPU?

If you plan on doing video editing then upgrade your CPU. An i7 with hyper-threading helps when encoding videos. The 3770k will work with your current board since you have a 3570k. The 4770k isn't worth buying a new motherboard for.

Well first of all you should have the common sense to at least check in your task manager/msi afterburner (or evga precision x, etc some hardware monitor) to see if anything is actually bottlenecking you.

Show Content
100% gpu and 3% cpu means the gpu is bottlenecking the CPU, 100% cpu and 20% gpu means the cpu is the bottleneck. You probably know this

But there is no reason why you should lag in tf2 with that setup. If this were for other games, I would say ugrade the gpu. For video editing the 650 should be fine (Look up adobe's cuda hack if you want gpu accel for premiere/ae/etc, don't think the 650 ti is natively supported). A 3770k or 4770k (or higher) would probably benefit for video editing, but honestly it's not worth it unless you do a ton of it. If you were building a new pc and hadn't already purchased the 3570k that'd be different.

Have you tried overclocking? Defrag hard drive? Updated drivers? Verify cache? I really doubt the problem is going to be hardware.

basically the same as me except i got a 660 and it gets 300 fps constant in 6s and 200 in pubs. if you're getting shit fps you have some other type of problem.

In terms of TF2... that system is absolutely fine and if you are having issues with it, something else is wrong.

For video editing, I would say that this system is fine. A GPU upgrade won't help you without some haxing in cuda support. The processor isn't necessarily the top of the line but considering it is a K version I would probably start overclocking it before I upgraded. Just get a big honkin air cooler and turn up the heat. Much cheaper than a new i7.

Edit: When you say shit fps what do you mean?

I have the same exact setup. I do a lot of editing and the setup works perfectly fine for me. I don't have frame rate issues in tf2 and vegas runs fine, rendering, editing, etc

I'm going with rick on this one. Reinstalling Windows will frequently fix tons of problems. They don't make much sense usually, but neither does Windows itself. Your hardware seems to be fine. If your hard drive isn't complete trash, I'd save whatever you need, format, and do a fresh install.

With that setup you should be hitting at least 500fps no problem with maxframes. As everyone said, check if you're not bottlenecking somewhere, or reinstall Windows if you really have no idea.

Maybe run an anti-virus to see if there's something wrong with your computer.
