800 is more than enough for most resolutions. 1600 is def more than plenty for any resolution. I like 800.

DPI is a gimmick. Gaming mice in general are gimmicks, unless you find one that really fits your style.
Basically if you spend more than $30 on a mouse you are a fool, because the technology is the same behind all of them, you are just spending money on ergonomic design and name brands.

actually if you spend 30$ on a mouse you are a fool because either you don't give a shit and get one for 5$ or you get a used WMO or intellimouse or it costs moer than 30$.
So you are wrong.

I believe you can get one of the good ones stated here for your budget.
Also, the SteelSeries Sensei is decent, the accel doesn't affect it THAT much.
The Razer Abyssus isn't even on the "poster" :D (One of the best mice on this planet)

apacusually what dpi do I need?
I believe that the link that there is in the picture can help you with that
Here
Just put your in game resolution width and press calculate on the dpi section.
For example, I use 1920 x 1080 so I put in the 1920 in there, I clicked calculate and got 796.2052421257972 answer, which means 800 :).
Razer Synapse lets you set your own dpi on (some of) their mice, but seriously it means 800.
Also, it can be your personal prefrence aswell, don't always "need to use" stuff, just what you like, that site helps you on what dpi would fit the best but seriously, you should try messsing around with it.

Yeah the way those posters rank the mice is pretty stupid to be honest. I'd agree there is a pool of mice that you should pick from but to rank them is a bit silly as different people have different personal preferences.
For example I don't want software with my mouse and a low lift off distance is essential so I'm a proud owner of a Zowie FK. However my friend had been a long term user of the MX518 and couldn't change to a different shape so he only finds the G400 comfortable. Again another one of my friends swears by the optical sensor in the Microsoft WMO and can't stand anything else. One of my house mates can't grip anything but a Deathadder and the other can only stand the Steelseries shape + loves the software.
All I'm trying to say is you should base your choice of mouse on personal preference and not how good someone on the internet thinks it is. That said there are a lot of mice out there that are fundamentally flawed in some way (sensor, software, durability etc) but it doesn't take too much research to find out whether a mouse is broken or not.
Hope this helps someone.

TaroWall of personal prefrences.
Listen mate, the picture is truely meant to help people figure out which ones you would want to get, which ones has the best reviewes, which ones has the least problems, which ones can provide you so and so.
This doesn't tell you to buy the mice just because it's listed there, it tells you which one most gamers, or whoever used these kind of mice like which one the most, it ranks it not because one is heavier or one is lighter, it ranks it by reviewes, and by least problems, and by sensors.
You can find an example for that in the "Good Tier", it didn't rank it by how big it is, or how small it is, it ranked it by its actual doings.
Also, who the hell can check out EVERY mouse out there and see which one your hand likes the most? seriously, what you said is purely personal prefrences.
In my honest opinion, your hand doesn't need to fit the mouse, the mouse has to fit your hand.
The picture purely tells you which ones are the best not based on, how light, heavy, lift off, software, price but on actual testing them out.
You can bring a million cases of different people using different mice, but bottom line, this helps you understand which are really the best out there that you can count on.
And if you want X and Y on some mice, you need to google it and check which one has them, as this young fella said, these are mices that he can google and check what he wants in a mouse.

Don't be afraid of unconventional mice in terms of popularity, they'll pleasantly surprise you if you do your research and know what to look for.

DA 3.5/BE and Abyssus both share the same sensor, tracking performance, and the LOD problem, yet one is utter crap while the other is praised.

I highly doubt that this guide is based on any statistic or from a poll.
A good feel in the hand and operating without any flaws in the users opinion is more important then a perfect lod. an increasing demand in high quality gear comes over time with experience, at the start I liked my g500 but noticed its flaws over time so I'm looking to grab a wmo.
Best thing is to actually try some mice and get one that isn't full of flaws and that you like and feel comfortable with.

Your keyboard guide link is messed up.
I used the Razer Mamba, G500, G5 and the G9X, and from all of them, the only (barely) decent one that was good was the G500, and even that broke after 2 months, I wish that this guide actually covered more mice out there rather than just the (sort of) old ones.
No Zowie mice in that guide which are one of the leading companies over SteelSeries and even Microsoft now, make quality mice and this guide seems a bit older than what I posted, and a little outdated.
I canno't believe this guide actually put wireless mice, which frankly, are shitty, personal experience, trust me.
And I didn't understand if this guide covered evey Deathadder edition out there (which different designs mean different things) or just one of the editions.

JackyLegsninjanickJackyLegsAlso, the SteelSeries Sensei is decent.
"All steelseries mice haveacceleration, not even the sensei is decent"Made me chuckle :D
Because I used the Sensei for a while back ago and I found that the accel doesn't effect it THAT much, it's annyoing sometimes, but it's worth the money.

It definitely is not worth the money because it is a shit mouse. What you just said was "yeah, it's bad, but it's worth the money".
KiritoTang_UnrandomirishladTang_UnWhat's wrong with the G500 ? I've used one for months and have no complaints.
It has positive acceleration that can't be turned off, so in purirst terms it doesn't have a "perfect" sensor.
Huh. Never noticed any accel. What's 'positive' accel anyway?
The G500's sensor is not placed in the center, so it gets positive accel.
Look at this for example
http://static.trustedreviews.com/94/145422/4037/13095-img4767s.jpg
Usually, the mouse sensor would be placed in the center. This causes the mouse to move faster/slower in a vertical direction.
It's actually not the position of the sensor that gives it positive accel, the sensor in general has positive accel because it's the same one that the Xai uses and that does too.

RenhetI have a Deathadder, pretty sure it's not '13, but still I enjoy it. I've had it for maybe two years though, and last month my M1 kept double clicking on occasion, but that seems to have sorted itself out somehow.
Hmm, I had the same thing. It seems to be fixed now as well.

PAPASTAINPic + stuff.
Lol'd at that pic. G500 "good sensor". Get a mouse with no accel or other hardware relaterd problems. Accel can be added trough software but hardware accel cannot be removed with one. Newer Zowie mice (AM, FK, eVo series), G400/G400S etc are the only ones worth buying. I know accel is personal preference, but hardware accel is BS.

How does that matter in an objective view of mice? If schocky played with a wireless ballmouse and still wrecked people, that wouldn't make the mouse any better.

I fail to see the difference between hardware accel (not skipping, prediction etc., that really is bs) and software accel. Some people just don't like accel, some are fine with it. You can call it preference.
A mouse that isn't terribly flawed will neither make you better nor worse.

Care to elaborate as to why you would purchase a mouse with hw accel, when you can achieve the same effect with sw. As MInd said, you can turn sw accel off, but hw accel you can't do anything about. Also nowhere did he say that the shape was bad, but you can get mice with essentially the same shape without the accel. Also I hope you realize hw accel is NOT a feature.

Also: You can't adjust for hardware accel in software because it's slightly different for each individual sensor made and difficult to model mathematically, so whatever function you have you'll end up with more or less of an S shape for the movement -> response curve. HW accel is a flaw to a very extreme vast majority of users for this and many other reasons.
