My team signed up for IGL right around the time it was launched. The website has had some drastic improvements in the past month or so and issuing a challenge is now essentially as simple as clicking and entering a date. We're definitely looking forward to what IGL could become.

It's hard to convince people that European leagues will eventually start, or what they offer that's worth the hassle.

I'm having a similar problem. A friend tried to join and had the wrong password so he sent me a request. I changed the password and he tried to rejoin but he couldn't because his request was pending. Tried to comb my team page for a requests alert but couldn't find a sausage.

It's a combination of a few things for my team, BPM.

1) Most of us are in UGC + at least 1 other league, whether it be CEVO, ESEA, ETF2L etc. With all that most of us have scheduled TF2 time every night of the week. There's simply no time

2) Being one of the better teams in UGC, playing in a single open division would not offer us the thrill of competition we enjoy. I understand that a single division is all you guys can offer because you're just starting out, and that's fine and I still really commend what you guys are doing.

I look forward to enrolling in IGL once other seasons are over, if possible.

There's literally no reason NOT to sign up if you ever scrim, just use it as a scrim finder. The more people who use it the better it is, if everyone moved over it'd be perfect. Much better than IRC imo and will continue to improve.

Kinda curious of what incentives there are to playing in IGL's league. I know people will argue over how its to make the community bigger, and help tf2 grow out of just having esea as a league. But what separates you guys from esea / ugc?

It's a ladder system.

ESEA does have a ladder system, but it's not for TF2 (and no one would use it anyway. No one uses the existing pug or scrim systems).

PrototypesI don't know if this is just me but when I try to invite people to the team roster it brings up the team builder thing and never loads anything.

Lots of times I ask my teammates to sign up, and they struggle with the site so much they just call it shit and quit trying. Even last night when I clicked team builder, I got a permanent loading screen.

SideshowThere's literally no reason NOT to sign up if you ever scrim, just use it as a scrim finder. The more people who use it the better it is, if everyone moved over it'd be perfect. Much better than IRC imo and will continue to improve.

THIS. I came from 1.6 so in the past there was always rankings for scrim teams in ESEA, top scrim record won $100 every month. It just overall makes scrims more competitive because you are playing for a record, and getting matched up against people of similar skill (or at least people who think they are similar skill) and then you get to prove them wrong if you disagree.

I was really jealous when ESEA released the ladder system for cs:go and not tf2 (although no surprise). I think it'd be a really good time if this got popular. It also may light a fire under ESEA's buttocks showing that there is still $ to be made in tf2, even in the scrim department.

Ladders aren't as good as tournaments / cups, sure a Ladder is a great starting point but down the line you need to look at implementing tournaments, I'd love to see a HL Cup of some kind, a Knockout one perhaps cos I haven't seen an NA knockout cup for over 2 years.

this is actually a really good idea. 6s/HL tournament would be a good idea to start things off and get things rolling. My team would definitely sign up for a 6s tourny

Hi all, thanks for the great discussions!

We just had our 5th match played, looks like DOOR is cleaning up! They're looking for more challengers. We hope to see more teams signed up in the near future!

Ready Teams (12/340)

In regards to players having trouble signing up on the site, or joining a team, please don't give up. Instead, reach out directly to me.. Skype, Steam, or Twitter.. IGLAbsolute.

In regards to the comment about a single division/tier. Tiers are limited to 30 teams. When a tier hits 150% of it's capacity (45 in this case), the divisions are split. Every 15 days the divisions are realigned, so you will always be playing within your skill set. If your team starts gelling well, or if you lose a key player that's impacting your performance, you will be realign accordingly. So I do encourage all teams to register, we need to grow the current division in order to start segregating.

SaxualContentI can't seem to figure out how to give my team mates a link to join our team? Or at least find a join page where they can enter the team password to join

Players can request to join a team right from the team page.
OR
Captains can invite a player, from the players profile.

You can find both of the above using the search feature in the header.

I'll work on fixing the team builder again. (It was working up until a few days ago)

Panda_PosseI'm having a similar problem. A friend tried to join and had the wrong password so he sent me a request. I changed the password and he tried to rejoin but he couldn't because his request was pending. Tried to comb my team page for a requests alert but couldn't find a sausage.

Yes, the idea of ladders is to create a 24x7 competitive atmosphere. It gives scrims a value & a meaning. It will compliment our soon to be leagues & events nicely.

reached out to you on twitter and didnt get a response! looks like you're posting here so ill post here too.

I'm curious -- I haven't heard much about IGL before so if its been around for a long time please forgive me for my ignorance. What is the goal for IGL in the coming months? What are you using to incentivize players to use the service? What is the business model / how do you guys make money?

It seems like just another scrim finder since there's no prizes or anything.

Goal over summer: Add support for more games(8), maximize the player base for the current games, iron out the platform, fixing bugs & adding features

Incentive: Free to play, matches 24/7, always playing within your skill set, we provide all infrastructure (servers), and a great team builder & management system.

Monetization model is targeted to be fully business to business. We're trying our best not to pass on our costs to the players.

Tournaments/Events will have prizing.

Leagues will be out end of summer. Prizing for leagues is TBD.

16 full teams on 6v6
20 full teams on Highlander

Only 6 matches played!

What's missing? We're thinking of adding a "Live" option to the matchmaker to allow people to join in on matches/pugs/scrimmages taking place at that time. What else would facilitate the rev up of these ladders?

PS. The events platform is about to be released (it's freakishly awesome) and the league technology is being upgraded for a release sometime in the next 90 days.

It's a bit weird trying to find a team to join. Personally I've just put myself on the free agent list and have been waiting to be added.

Well Im not so sure about that but I was hyped to play, all up to the fact I'm an euro and we got excluded of all the fun :(

But anyway, I think if you do release those features soonish it will certainly be the go-to place, even if it doesn't become the main highlander league immediately with a good enough scrim system which is non existant atm in the scene, it could really shift the entire highlander scene to it.

Prizes.

Basically there's no real reason for Invite/im/high open teams to join because there aren't many good teams signed up. Many people have said this would be a nice replacement to scrims, but since there aren't any higher level teams signed up it'd just be a waste of scrim time for most teams.

Also I'd say 90% of teams already have a server, and IRC is way faster for finding scrims since you don't have to use a web interface and can actually pick and choose who you want to play with on the spot, one right after the other rather than have to go through the process of scheduling for a time.

If there was something to play for I think you'd get some decent teams to sign up, which would in turn create more of an incentive for teams to sign up and get actual practice/experience playing in the ladder/league. The live option would definitely help as most teams laugh at the idea of setting up a time for scrims.

Also, just out of curiosity, do your servers have sizzling stats/some sort of stats system in them? That along with a system that users easily download stv's of matches would be really nice.

trying to click on a matches results right now just brings me to a 404 page from here:http://www.playigl.com/team/383-Dedoris

Having something similar to ESEA's match results/stats/stv dl page would definitely be a plus.
