I think as tournament with no stock weapons, (maybe except medi gun) would be really fun. Maybe it wouldnt work out, but would be interesting to see what strats people would come up with. Buff banner pocket soldier. Black box roamers. Force of nature scouts.

Okay, let's say I just picked up TF2 because one of my friends told me it was a cool game, and free to play to boot. I load into the game and want to play this lovely tournament mode because I used to play CS and think I can handle myself aim-wise. I join up and pick scout and...well shit, all my available weapons are banned.

You can't ever ban stock weapons because for some players, they are the only ones available.

*unless you auto-loan weapons during lobbies and everything is available.

I seriously question Valve's willingness to implement this model not only because of the time to code in that behavior but also because it undermines the unlock model entirely. Why would I ever buy a weapon from the Mann Co. store when everything is available to me for free in the game mode where it actually matters? I understand that the temporary loaning system already exists on a much smaller level, but if everything is 100% blanket available, the player has no incentive to build their own unlock collection through crafting or purchasing.

They're encouraging us to test this game mode so that comp play can actually engage the entire player base and make them some money. I get that we're trying to keep as many doors open as possible while testing out the new format and the pick/ban process, but I really think people need to move on from the idea of banning stock. It's just not going to happen.

Asiafortress (and Ozfortress)have held offclass cups before. Idk about the ozf version but most AF 6v6 regulars found it pretty stupid.

good points #13, eXperimentation will show whether banning stocks is viable with tweaks or whether it's a ridiculous idea. I don't claim to know the answer.

I plaid in an unlocks only tournament hosted through a subreddit. Despite the fact that there were some interesting strategies involved, it came down to whichever team's heavy died first, they would lose the fight which was way more uninteresting than the current sixes meta.
