Algebra is the basis for almost all higher level math classes. Every single college degree requires some sort of math above algebra.

If you are going into any science based major then absolutely and a half. It won't seem immediately relevant to you if you are in high school or sooner, but once you see the applications of all the mathematics you've learned throughout school you'll see why its important to know.

If you want a decent career you have to do well on school and on college. Suck it up, algebra is the lowest of the many challenges you have ahead of you.

And for fuck's sake if you can't even spell algebra right, you should start worrying about your future.

You'd be surprised at how useful algebra actually is after you take it. If you're going into a science or engineering related field, it'll pretty much have to become second nature if you want to make it through.

The basis of algebra is solving for variables. Let's use a TF2 example: you're playing soldier and you come across another soldier with little particles flying out of him indicating that he is buffed somewhat. By luck, you fire 3 rockets and they do a total of 230 damage. At the same time he fires 4 rockets and knocks you down to 20HP. Now, you only have time to fire that one rocket before he switches to his shotgun and finishes you off. With your final rocket are you going to a) go for the direct and most likely miss or b)hit him with splash definitely?

Algebra precipitates a fundamentally logical approach to every situation.

If schools removed all subjects except math this world would be a far better place.

You use algebra every day and you don't even notice. All those word problems you do in class are trying to make you understand that.

If the overhealed demo has 260 health, How much damage do I need to do per shot to take him down in 4 shots.

.: x = 65

You need math. NEED IT. I'd go so far as to say that everyone should have at least Calc 1. There isn't a single field that doesn't require mathematics and problem solving skills, even traditionally liberal arts fields.

The logical thinking process you develop as you take any math course is well worth it.

Ive had no problem with the subject with my time in school but a couple of my friends complain to me about them not using it now I was just asking for other people's opinions

tf2 made me a lot better at mental addition/subtraction but only for the numbers 102 and 150 because I only hit meatshots on your medic 8) (this isn't true I'm still bad at mental math and I hardly ever get meatshots.)

BUT ANYYWAYYYY, yeah math is important kshot even if you wanna be a drama major or whatever when you're older. Its good for your brain and its easier to learn it now than to learn it when you're 28.

Algebra has so many everyday applications it's not even funny. But I guess it's because you and your friends are young and they might not be doing well (and I was a math team nerd).

Also, people saying other topics in school aren't relevant should look at some of the awful posts on this forum. English is necessary, though not to the degree it's sometimes forced to. Unless you're planning to go to college, then it gets really important (when you notice half the people don't speak/understand/write that good of English, you start to appreciate that at least people from here can understand you and back).
