lies my newest theory regarding the future of competitive " team fortress" formats, and the like.

i believe that, one day, team fortress 2 will DWINDLE in numbers. the poor competitive population will have to share their servers, but they wont want to, oh no, "how dare those filthy SPY MAINS slow down the game!" they will say.
"how dare those filthy SOLDIER MAINS remove my class!" they will say.

when you scrape the bottom of the barrel you wont have fingernails to scratch eachother with, you should know this you rats. you will have to reach a painful, terrible, agreement, you will need, a compromise. and you will realize, there is a common link, a beautiful, unbeloved, unappreciated overlap in the venn diagram, his name?: King Of The Hill.

though perhaps not the most fun gamemode, and perhaps not the most class compatible gamemode, it strikes a balance in a way i can only describe as "spicyyyyyyyy" and it may be your best bet, in the future, there will be no 18 players.
in the final evolution there will be 12 players, a class limit of 1, we will not have sniper, we will be playing koth, steel, and gravel pit, it will be called "super proffessionalander" and we'll all love it, and you'll thank me later...

Agreed, we must all suffer through one hour round timer games and last stalemates for the love of the game.

what if we make it 5v5 and instead of classes you get cash and buy weapons and instead of 5cp and koth and payload there's two points and one team had to plant a bomb and what if we make the art style closer to 2000s-2010s cod or pre cod and instead choosing loadouts you buy weapons and we make the realistic and slow the movement and crates don't have unusual and have knives instead?

While I know it’s a shit post, I feel like animemans post about competitive format is older than you’ve been alive.

yes it probably is, i am 17 years old.
this post was born out of both frustration and fascination, have we really reached the optimal format configuration?
the only step forward i can think of is designing a new gamemode entirely, maybe tweaking an existing one cp_steel style.
