someone with the know how should set this up. would be pretty cool and draw a lot of attention to tf2 as we'd be (afaik) the only game with a legit fantasy league/points system.

could do like
1 point for every 500 dmg
1 point for every 5 kills
-5 points per uber drop
+1 per uber
+1 per 5 assists

etc

That'd be great. Betting with refs would step it up. Also, maybe a betting pool for roster changes by registration, as well. Or odds. Like, what are the odds that Reptile comes back and plays a match?

Maybe just a generalized gambling pool at the start of each ESEA season as to who gets the most kills, dmg, ubers, etc, since I know esea already keeps track of all that stuff.

This could be really cool. Would be some work to set up initially but it'd be easy after that.

yeah you could do a ref pool to buyin to the season and winner takes all, and then have a week to week betting system.

your team has b4nny on demo and hes poised to have a huge week, but your opponent thinks his mixup squad is gonna shut him down...unusual v unusual manly mode bet

your team has a few players who are sitting out/gonna be having a ffw/ffl? bet a ref.

could also do the whole football fantasy thing with a defensive team. +5 points for every round UNDER 5 the other team scores (would be modified for gpit/viaduct week obv)

I posted about doing something like this as a joke a while back, but secretly always wanted it to exist. If people would play that shit, i'd be more than happy to draw up some rules and regulations. Seeing as how in an esea season each player usually plays 2 matches per week, we could easily get enough relevant data to make it happen.
My thought on the scoring system was that instead of overall points it should be by done category wins, averaging stats across all players started for the week instead of doing a point system. Possible Categories: Kills, Assists, Damage Per Minute, Overall Damage, Captures, Blocks, Ubers, Ubers Dropped, Rounds For, Rounds Against.
I think you'd also need to take into account the fact that some players stats will be highly inflated due to 8 minute 5-0 rolls, so some kind of balancing of categories by time in game or rounds played would be required.
Thoughts or comments?

Would you limit the draft to certain divisions? I could see there being a lot of problems if you did anything other than IM + Invite.

ya itd be a pure invite draft. you dont draft college+nfl players in regular fantasy :P~

plus stacking your team with the seasonal "invite team in IM" players would fuck up the whole thing

I really like this idea, however I've never actually done a fantasy draft type thing, so my question is, what if everyone just picks the same people? I mean you'd be silly not to pick all stars like B4nny or platinum, so if everyone picks the same X amount of people then isn't it a bit pointless?

Fantasy leagues have a "snake" picking pattern. You get a group of X amount of players, and then they pick say 9 out of all the players registered on all invite teams each. The first pick will basically always be b4nny, but after that you have to actually think about who you want to pick before they get taken.

to remedy the obvious first pick status of b4nny i think it'd be best to have the 1st pick haver get bumped to last pick for 2nd round of the draft.

That's exactly how drafting works...

I think you guys should look up how fantasy drafts work before posting.

+1 per hs/backstab lets be real, that shit never happens in invite
and of course you have to count wins, so +1 if a member of winning team

Could do categories like a lot of fantasy leagues do. I just finished a head-to-head 9-category fantasy basketball league and it was a lot of fun. Categories could be like, KDR, damage, kills, assists, healing, captures, etc. Set limits on the # of each class you can start each week (or that you can draft, since I'm not sure how sophisticated you guys want to make this).

edit: whoops #6 already posted something similar. It's a good idea though :)
