Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are both great. I don't think you need to play any of them story-wise though.

To me, the cgi in this trailer wasn't as realistic as the arkham city trailer(not saying the cgi is bad, it's amazing), but the fight and the quickly established story are a great hype machine.
And with Batman, there's a slim chance your gonna be let down.

Fingers crossed, as a new studio is on it this time around. Rocksteady did fantastic work on Asylum, and City. Hopefully WB Montreal will live up to it.
