Quite possibly the most straightforward and informative guide to streaming I've read for TF2 so far. Great work! :D

FzeroHow the fuck are you getting 5mb up with TWC?

I live in a small apartment complex where all users are forced to use TWC, as it comes free with the apartment. I pay a small fee to upgrade it from the base rate, which is something really crappy like 10Mbps down, 1Mbps up.

Nevermind, I found out how. You need to upgrade your package and, here is the kicker, get their all in one modem and router. No thanks. Oh and BTW, they will NOT allow you to disable their DHCP, or even wireless signal, to use your own.

The all in one isn't as bad as it seems, but I understand why you're not happy with it.

Why would I want them in my router, I would not be able to use my own firmware, my own ip filters, etc. I don't know why someone that has their own equipment would want it. Plus, it's the fact they they refuse to disable it too.

Doesn't matter, I just switched to Wow now anyways. Two Tv boxes and 50/5 internet and full disable of their DHCP for only 120 a month. When TMC was 1 box and 30/1 for 135 a month.

AAC is a higher quality codec than MP3. While 192000 bitrate audio is great, it's pretty unnecessary.

This could be argued about, but I won't go there. 192k/s encoding is generally considered the threshold of transparency though, so you don't really want to go lower than that.

Good guide otherwise, though. It might be worth it to note that OBS does what tcp relay does out of the box.

There are other sites?

PS; some things in there are not correct. If you're able to edit, let me know so I can help you out. The ingest part in particular. Transcodes are an entirely different beast. Ingesting is what pushes your video into our CDN and allows it to be sent all over the world.

All users must use one of our ingests to get their stream live. This is not a feature reserved for partners. Any time you go live, you will use an ingest. Most users are unaware of this so they automatically broadcast to live.justin.tv (SFO).

a big bump, but ive been getting my stream working on my hybrid graphics (integrated graphics + an nvidia card) setup. would it be worth adding a section on hybrid graphics to the guide?

i guess it's not common, but it certainly has its issues to resolve to get everything to display properly, such as having to change your video card settings to force obs.exe to render text (lol) on your high performance card if you want text overlay(s) while streaming tf2
