flatlineoh its tanner

ahahaha. i clicked his profile to see who "tanner" was and noticed he was in a fan group for the game blockland. i developed mods pretty frequently from like 2008 to 2011 for that game and it still has a place in my heart, so i was a little disappointed a tf2 scammer like this guy labelled himself as a community member of that game. but when i searched to see what username he used on blockland...

note: keys are not tf2 keys. they are your auth info for the game (product key), aka your entire account

#3 What to do with extra tf2 items? in TF2 General Discussion

haha umm so i noticed you won a lottery on that site mere minutes before posting here, which i might add is the only post you've ever made on tf.tv. speaking of your tf.tv account, the steam account it's linked to has never played tf2 nor gets any usage. i guess it could be an alt, but a simple search for your alias only reveals you advertising this lottery site on other community forums repeating "it's legit here's proof i won lotteries"

mods?!

#28 Ruleset Discussion in TF2 General Discussion
AdmirableInstead of a artificial halftime I'd like to see a longer period in between rounds, which is the natural break in the flow of the game. Players would be frozen in spawn for 20-30 seconds before a new round begins, but the time doesn't come off the map clock until the round starts properly. Something like the way the clock stops in American Football? (I don't know what I'm talking about!)

i'd imagine that would be most easily done through increasing the "humiliation" time, which we lowered from pub level in the first place. however, the fast transition we have between capping last and rolling out for the next round allows for continued momentum throughout a game. a player might get a nice spree at last to win the round, and they'll be pumped and ready to play a solid mid. if we increased that delay, even just by returning it to whatever time period ships with tf2, it'd be quite a momentum break. if you wanted clock stops during games for the sake of recouping or discussing something, i suppose as-is teams could utilize one of their X number of pauses allowed for the match.

also, can we bring up whitelist revision with all the changes to weapons? or will i get shot for mentioning it

#5 ESEA - Latests CFGs / Whitelist in TF2 General Discussion
CHEERISShttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9542855/esea_cevo_cfg_7_10_2014.zip

Has ESEA/CEVO configs + whitelist with edited round win limit to 5 on push and 4 on koth.

the esea whitelist has pyrovision allowed, black box banned, and maybe some other errors
what did you reference to generate it?

---

i just made this whitelist based off the esea website (could be outdated): http://whitelist.tf/1447
any controlled-duration taunts are banned since the high five taunt was banned for that reason

also as far as i know weapons were never fully re-evaluated after this patch

#135 notoHUD in Customization

do you know if there's an easy way to download only modified files in a particular commit? i mostly ask for manual patching, and i know github has some merge functionality but that requires the user to have the git thing installed and the hud treated as a repository on their computer.

the closest things i saw were:

https://github.com/omnibombulator/noto/commit/018cc3912b40f2abd93b403698769230195e14ce
on the commit page, click "show diff stats" and copy those files out of the zip into your hud directory

https://github.com/omnibombulator/noto/commit/018cc3912b40f2abd93b403698769230195e14ce.patch
add .patch to the end of the commit page url to get a patch file, but it requires the installed program

#8 strafe hack speed test in Videos
1archfeind7https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PciaNRx_CLU

testing this in an offline server because its really interesting it does like 50 strafes a second just showing how much speed strafing can get the strafes are so fast and small you cant see them

i'm all for the promotion of research into movement mechanics in any kind of game but

mr64bitThis is the hack used.

are you really just going to link to hacks on a competitive communtiy website?

taighaI feel like earthbound would be fun to do, maybe super mario sunshine. Can anyone reccomend some good streamers to learn from?

on super mario sunshine, samura1man did commentary runs specifically for learning from:

beginner: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0Vis1HB4_M0
advanced: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ewGyujYWUsI

i suppose i'll add i've had a lot of fun routing and running pokemon yellow and x versions
gens 1 and 6 are probably the most open in terms of paths to take to complete the game

#2 tf2 not downloading entirely in Q/A Help

well shit

i wish i could provide you (the reader) with more info incase you experience the same problem i did but after fiddling with stuff over the course of 6 hours including download times, i walked away from my computer for ~40 minutes to get food and when i got back it had downloaded the rest of the game. like i actually have no idea where to begin describing how i "solved" this problem other than it was certainly none of the above things i listed

#1 tf2 not downloading entirely in Q/A Help

solved (?) - see #2

-----

okay so i went to do a fresh install of tf2 and now for whatever reason it won't download all the way. it seems normal from start to finish as if you were downloading any steam game, but it is evident it didn't actually install fully given that hl2.exe isn't even there. upon further inspection, the downloading tab on steam says "x GB / 6.7 GB", and if I remember right it's more like 11-13 gb. that is the process that occurs each attempt despite the following:

steps i've tried so far for troubleshooting (on missing executable, no disk space, game won't install/update)
- verified integrity of game files
- deleted appcache
- flushed steam config
- ran as administrator
- changed download region
- reinstalled steam
- cleared registry of any valve/steam keys
- restarted computer
- changed download region
- disabled antivirus
- disabled firewall
- opting in/out of steam beta
- defragmenting

some stuff i was reading mentioned the appmanifest file, and my appmanifest_440.acf contains the entry "BytesToDownload" with the value 7235153328, which is equivalent to that 6.7 gb i mentioned earlier that shows up on the downloads tab. however, when clicking to install the game and it tells me the "required disk space" on the first dialog box, its in the 13 billion bytes. but somewhere between there and when it says "preparing files for download" / "calculating disk space", it determines i only deserve 7 billion of those bytes, which isn't the complete game.

anyone had this issue and or know how to fix it? also any leads on what else to try to troubleshoot it would be much appreciated

edit: added other stuff i tried
