I have unwillingly not slept in a about 36 hours now, and I've tried several times. I sometimes have a little difficulty sleeping so I've picked up the habit of listening to podcasts but that isn't working so if u guys have some techniques or whatever to help I'd love to know

force yourself to lay down and close your eyes without opening them and you'll definitely fall asleep by at most an hour

Melatonin is an OTC sleep aid that is very effective. It isn't really a drug that your body can become dependent on as it is a naturally secreted hormone.

Melatonin is great, but it really is a drug to some degree. I used it for about a year straight when I was a freshman, and I became totally dependent on it. I could not sleep without it. It felt really good to get off it. Gotta use it in moderation.

just stay awake, until you are sleepy (like to the point your eyes hurt) then sleep
it's not like you aren't able to function on less sleep and you will be tired earlier the next night.

I have a noise machine that plays white noise, and then I just lie down.

Usually though I'm just tired from working all day.

Read a lil bit of a book, listen to some Alex Jones or watch a documentary and learn a little something. While I'm in bed I reflect on the lesson until my brain wears out and I go to sleep.

ReeroMelatonin is an OTC sleep aid that is very effective. It isn't really a drug that your body can become dependent on as it is a naturally secreted hormone.

Naturally secreted hormones are what you become dependent on, because you're already dependent on them.

It's a really good sleep aid but you shouldn't use it constantly for a long time.

OP, you should see a doctor, 36 hours without sleep is not normal and could be caused by one of a hundred potentially easy to fix things.

That's not right, your body will in fact stop producing melatonin if you take it for too long (usually around 2 weeks to a month), same with the majority of hormones

I find that I'm mostly completely unable to sleep in a 'normal' way since I was about 11, what I find helpful is sound, like white noise, or you can just play something relaxing, I use a 1hr loop of thunderstorm noises and that helps me- 2nd, lavender scent, like a diffuser or something, next to the bed, or sprayed onto the pillow is relaxing. Then finally I always stretch before getting in bed.

But sleep troubles can be caused by a lot of different things, if you're not anxious or stressed you might not find it helpful.
