just get at least a 3.2 so you can get into a school, SAT/ACT matters a lot more at that point
enjoy being young and save your energy for college tbh, you will miss how easy high school was

Dunno if this has been said already but be sure to buy comfy earbuds and keep your playlist updated. Music is a major player in mental healthness.

My biggest problem through high school was stress. Do all the club and extracurricular shit but not so much that you stress too much. Also, don't procrastinate. Get your work/projects/essays done a few days earlier than needed. Teachers love that shit and will probably give you extra points just for turning it in early. And of course waiting till the last minute is stressful.

rmtI'm starting jr year on tuesday too. I fucked up big time during sophomore year, long story short i spent so much time playing tf2 that i put off a really important research paper for at least three months with it being a month late, which ended up making me come close to academic probation.

The biggest and most important tip I can give you is to uninstall tf2 and make sure that you won't be tempted to install it again during high school. The game is literally like cocaine, once you start with it it's very hard to get rid of.

Finally, keep yourself busy. I find that packing my schedule makes me manage my time more efficiently and not slack off. I row during the fall and spring, which is from 2:40 PM - 6 PM 5 days a week, giving me essentially 4-5 hours to take a shower, eat dinner, do homework, and talk to friends. Also, doing a rigorous sport as an extracurricular keeps you in such great shape that you might not even need to work out.

please don't listen to this guy
It's not the games fault he has an addiction to tf2

The first 3 years are a joke so enjoy yourself and if you're gonna fuck around with drugs and girls do it then. Go ham in your senior year cause your grades actually matter.

This is going to be a long one, so do with that as you want

While it doesn't matter as much since your day is basically scheduled for you, learn effective time management outside of class. Even if it's going to the library after school to do homework every day, it's well worth it when you go into college and you are in charge of everything you do. Have some place that you can store all of the things that you need to be responsible for. That can be in an app on your phone or even in a planner that you can get for a few bucks at the store. But DO NOT try and say "I'll remember everything myself" because you won't and something will end up slipping past you and end up biting you in the butt near the end of the semester. I've learned it firsthand and I'll tell you, it's completely and utterly awful.

Find a group of people that you can regularly connect with. I did band all 4 years of high school and I met some amazing friends and had some amazing life experiences. But remember that after high school, the majority of people go their separate ways and don't see each other again until the reunion.

Maintain good grades, but don't be that critical of trying to get a 4.0 these last few semesters. It's just going to cause unnecessary stress in your life. But if you can pull it off, more power to you.

Some of your teachers do know a thing or 2 in terms of their field. Whether it's coding or biology, NEVER be afraid to stick around after class and ask them to clarify what they meant in a certain part of the notes or for him/her to explain something better. Most teachers (and college professors) are usually more than willing to help you understand the content better. But they shouldn't have to spoonfeed you the information despite the fact that high school is mainly about learning something and spitting it back out on the test as accurately as possible.

Don't study material to be familiar with it, study material to understand it. There's a BIG difference between the two and learning to study for understanding now.

And lastly, have your priorities straight. My hours played within the past 2 weeks according to steam have plummeted when compared to during the summer since I've been so busy during the week. While I can't exactly play full time because sub 30 fps on a laptop is completely miserable, tf2 isn't going to be getting you a salary that you can make a living off of, despite what the majority of the people in the community want. But small things such as doing a paper long before it's due instead of playing tf2 will make your life so much more stress free.
