Strange lag!?

I've been plagued by this wierd lag recently and I'm not sure whether its hardware related or internet related. My ms ingame shows 200+ spikes but my scoreboard ping stays normal and it seems like I can watch youtube videos and stuff just fine. Nobody else seems to see or believe my lag but its happening! I had this problem a few weeks ago but it seemed to fix itself after i deleted tf folder. Tried again and everything is normal. I also have two connections and it seems to be doing it on both connections. Does anyone have any experience with this type of lag? It's driving me nuts, please help. Thanks!

Edit:
It seems my mumble is skipping and my system is stuttering entirely. Please advise.
It happened after I installed a new vid card.

I don't understand what happened here.

basically the community here is pretty shit and has a mob mentality

unfortunately I have never even heard of a latency problem like this, so I am not sure where to start.

Can you take your rig to a friend's house and see if it happens there? That would narrow it down between your rig and internet connection.

So I have some progress, I rolled back the drivers and now it seems to have stopped the lag but now I"m having flickering issues. For some reason the map flickers in color and I've reinstalled the drivers and no luck. Any advice?

I do have two connections and knew it was hardware related, i should have mentioned that in the first post lol. Any ideas on the flickering or should I try rolling it back again?
Btw, thanks for hte love, the intial minus frag was the invite pug i was in cuz i was whining the whole time haha

It seems to be only the maps, the sky doesn't change colors at all.

Are you using nVIDIA card? If so the only driver that works for me without color flickering issues @ dx8 is 306.23, maybe you should give it a go.

Hey Moral, quick question, where did you find the 306.23? The oldest one I can find is 306.89.

For the lag, make sure you aren't using wireless. I had to go wireless for a month and was getting 300+ ping lag spikes. You could try resetting and checking if the firmware on your modem/router is up to date. Heck, sometimes just power cycling your router does the trick.

Yeah I'm hardlined, I was able to stop the lag completely with a video driver roll back. I don't know why but some how it worked. Just trying to fight the flickering of maps now. The only things that don't flicker are the sky and grass.

Those are pretty old. Did you give the most recent WHQL driver a try? 310.70

edit: those are beta, not whql, whoops. try them anyways i guess

I wouldn't try them, 310.61 caused graphical glitches in DX8 TF2 for me. Other games were fine though.

Try pingplotter to trace routing and ping to whatever servers you're trying to play on. It'll show any servers that produce jitter or high pings.
