DemarinikomorebiDemariniYou do realize this will be 9v9 right?
Matchmaking WILL be 9v9.
Valve has never cared about the competitive community, in CS or in TF2, hell, not even in Dota.
They care about their wallets, and if they can exploit the competitive as a means to an end, they will do it in a heartbeat.

Oh shit dude you were at the meeting and talked to Valve about this stuff?!?! That's sick bro. You know what you should do? You should host a talk show type thing explaining to everybody exactly what happened at the meeting so people don't spread blatant misinformation! Like a podcast type thing. Would really help people from jumping the gun. Thanks, god bless.

Did you not even read my post? I mean logically there is no other choice from Valve's end. If they make matchmaking that will instantly become the most popular thing to play on TF2. Are they going to look at 3 classes, all the hats, and all the weapons people have, all the money they spent, and tell them it's useless? There is just absolutely no fucking way that happens. Especially with highlander already being more popular amongst pubbers(the large majority of the community) than the competitive format...I mean every single thing points to it being 9v9. When has Valve ever cared about the 6v6 format? They pretended to for like..2 months a few years back, but then they realized the money they're making off weapons and skins is so absurd that they're just going to go all in. And they made bank.

Edit - If you can give me one good reason from Valve's end to support the 6v6 format over 9v9, then please do it. I gave you several why Valve will go with 9v9, all very strong points imo. Don't just disregard it out of blind hope, but accept it.

Reasons to support 6v6:

    More competitive at it's core
    Often more exciting to watch
Matches and directly competes with overwatch's 6v6
Can be easier for newer players to watch and understand
There's an established paid league with prize pools for valve to support
6's has a lot more LAN events than highlander

rowrowif people have spent a lot of money on hats they don't need matchmaking in 6s to tell them it was wasted.

Regardless of that, we'll know tomorrow

And then its easier to spectate, which makes it a win-win for both the audience and the players, both are which esports' market.

6v6 has a more dynamic flow of interchanging classes, with offclassing

For you. For a competitive player. Most pubbers don't want dynamic flow. They don't want anything confusing. That takes effort to learn and practice to get good at. They want to be good now, so they need something easy to digest It's the reason why CSGO has weapons like the p90 and why pistols are so strong and why the game in general is much easier/dumbed down compared to CS 1.6.

You guys all look at it from your perspective, which is quite obviously biased. Look at it from Valve, and more importantly, the average pubbers perspective.

Plus the waiting times would a lot shorter in 6s, just queuing up for scout/soldier(pocket/roamer)/demo and medic. That's 4(5) queue spots instead of HL's 9.

CS:GO is a game built at its core to be competitive even to the average player in Matchmaking.

Despite there being weapon imbalances and issues you might see with the game people still have to learn to play the game and be competitive to succeed, the same could be said if matchmaking is added into TF2. You are just angry and I dont know why.

Yeah that's a problem nowadays.. Nobody wants to take effort to get good at something, everything has to come right away. Fucking lazy queers.

matchmaking aside, imagine b4nny's stream consistently on the main menu, his viewership is going to skyrocket and so will pubbers' knowledge of competitive.

Yeah those first few are real unbiased opinions. I'm sure pubstars agree with you.

Valve doesn't care about LAN events or pre-established leagues. Why would they? How does that make them any money? If by some miracle highlander takes off and the TF2 competitive community explodes they might make a highlander LAN event with a decent prize pool from hat money, but they aren't about to just starting losing money throwing LAN events for a dying community. They need to see the financial benefit first.

another reason for valve to support 6's is because every major Organizatin/LAN event would probably rather support 6's. Getting 18 people on stage is ridiculous. 9 players per team is just too much for any major event.

I mean regardless of whether I play or not it's not hard to see what Valve will do based on their history. The only response to what I said was blatantly biased opinions saying the 6v6 is a better format so Valve will use that one. That's just...childish almost. DIS ONE BETTER. Yes to you...

Kind of yeah. It's human nature to dislike change, especially when they've grown accustomed to something over a long period of time. Most people grew to enjoy TF2 for the pub aspect of it. Changing to a 6v6 competitive format that limits their classes will feel like a slight against them. They won't take it as expanding horizons. Having to learn what would pretty much be an entirely different kind of game will sound like shit to them, most people at this point have probably been playing TF2 for years, and pubbers have been playing all classes in chaotic game modes for years. That's what they've come to enjoy. That's what they will enjoy. To just expect them to instantly like an entirely different game is crazy, and super risky from Valve's end.

What's shitty about the posts? Can you tell me? Like go into some deep analysis, don't just take the easy way out, come on man you're better than that. Seriously unless you can tell me what is wrong with the posts outside of the fact that they're a harsh truth then you should probably go back to sniffing glue.

TF2 is more like...a cool breeze on an autumn day. I felt Metroid Prime Hunters was a better competitive game. You know I was top 5 Trace in that game at one point? Duel mode too. Wish they had hats though.

DemariniThey don't want anything confusing. That takes effort to learn and practice to get good at.

Have you even played any of the other games that are considered "eSports" today? Absolutely everybody in dota pubs, league normals, and csgo community gives a shit about their rank. All those games with ranking systems that require you to learn and practice the correct way to play them, people take interest in. I don't know a single person that doesn't play dota, league, or csgo that doesn't also play ranked and doesn't at the very least try to gain rank. "They don't want confusing". Only complete noobs (to the entire game, not just comp) would be confused after having already played 9v9 matchmaking or whatever default match making they impliment first. The type of people that ask why people aren't buying novas or why Master Yi isn't being picked are the type of people that "don't want confusing".
