Season 13 map?

was there a final consensus on ashville? a lot of people complained initially but i thought it played fairly well when i played it.

in the interest of not having 5 random fucking maps to choose from based on the whim of a killing/kalkin, we should get a discussion going sooner rather than later.

i don't know what kind of alternatives there are.
pro turbine? are there any viable ctf maps yet? saddens me we can't make this game mode work.

metalworks? always played well imo and dunno what got voted in instead of it but its fun to look at and plays smoothly.

someone mentioned yukon tonight and i remember one reason everyone got so against it was because that was the season lan was basically ruined by double heavy strats. with the heavy limit down to 1 is yukon viable again? i always liked it but maps with a hard to push last are historically pretty awful. the rest of the map was always fun tho imo.

koth_ashville?
its played in highlander and i dont understand why we play viaduct instead of ashville. on ashville sniper is much less of a pain. and its not uphill pushing the point and the underneath route provides something for the roamer to do besides get bodyshot mid-air. also this is like the only map we play in invite pugs that isnt in the rotation. in fact we NEVER play viaduct and ashville is usually favored more than granary. so why isn't it played in esea?

some people hated it but there were dm fights everywhere and i think it might have taken a season for people to warmup to the format but it adds some interesting strategy variations. personally i enjoyed it. really fast paced constant action, and uber has a much smaller impact on the game. kritz/quick fix are much more viable.

anyways 2 questions:
1) Is cp_ashville a good map or will it likely be the map voted out?
2) If voted out what are some viable replacements?

When everyone complained about standin, the more cap points you owned the longer your respawn time was. That mechanic has been reversed so now if you own 2/3 points you spawn faster than the team with 1/3 points. Unfortunately the time it takes to revert cap points is hard coded into the game and can't be changed unless Valve adds some sort of function for that.

I say either koth_ashville or koth_granary, both maps have been playtested pretty thoroughly by the community and the consensus would be that both maps are pretty good.

1) i'm pretty sure this map will be voted out, not really because its a terrible map but mostly because the popular consensus right now is to say its a bad map. its big. its hard to push out of last. the rollout is funky. this is true for other maps as well that are in the rotation, but its a new map. so lets get mad.

don't know why we ever got rid of koth_ashville, i always thought we needed more koth variety. A lot of people were complaining about heavies and engies in the shutter door though.

Ashville will be voted out, it should be because it wasn't thought out practically, especially last. Replacement potentials should include koth granary, koth ashville, cp yukon, cp metalworks.

Granary and ashville specifically because we SHOULD have two koth maps in the rotation. Ideally we could have two a/d maps as well but there are no gpit equivalents. I have always found yukon unique and lots of fun, even with heavies. Metalworks has been in beta for a while and every time I've pugged it I've had fun.

Can we took another look at mainline? Last time I played the map, it was a lot of fun, including the transitions and the last point which usually seem to be a problem for maps. The only thing that was kinda awkward were the midfights, mainly because of the weird platform hanging on top and the sideways barrels.

Metalworks and koth ashville are the two maps that I'd look at though. Just need to get some scrims on them to see how they play compared to pugs.

I hope this brings back the movement to make cp_profront. I also remember a discussion about cp_quay or something, it looked like a good map. Otherwise, follower or warmfront with their flaws and all are both better than cp_ashville

koth ashville was too short lived, only 1 season right? and maps like coldfront/warmfront lasted so many seasons...or random shitty maps replacing it like standin. koth ashville is good a long with viaduct. it makes for good matches when it boils down to raw dm back and forth play, instead of your typical 5cp

I wouldn't mind seeing koth_ashville at all, much much better than cp_ashville in my opinion. I like cp_yukon, but I've never really played it that much in 6s, I think it'd be worth a try next season.

I remember that scorpio said that he had made major changes to the map but unfortunately they were made too late for the season. koth_ashville and standin definitely deserve another shot. Follower is a garbage map but if you guys want it really badly, I really don't mind. I'm pretty sure most of you weren't around for when we played it but it was widely hated back then.

Anyways, thoughts on my candidates/follower?
