I've played Rushers lots of times so that didn't surprise me; they were the keenest team in the game between seasons. Seems you can't buy the trophy, Robeo.

Great job on everything today Kaneco and the rest of the comp.tf staff, I can't imagine how much admin work you've had to do today.

Just want to thank you for giving me the impromptu opportunity to cast, I've never done it before and I'm not sure why I started today, I hope it wasn't too horrible.

Well played by all the teams who took part, cheers

gg to brazil

Kaneco, I'm still curious as to why you allowed SA players in an NA cup, also how you would qualify them as newbies (what leagues did you look at?). It's obvious from how they were playing that they are not new.

The ping difference was insane. Disregarding the 24/7 sniper which practically shot through walls, it's just annoying to play against people with that drastic of a ping difference. If you ever do this again, you should really clarify the ruling on SA teams, or just make an SA newbie cup. This was just incredibly annoying to play against after an entire day of NA matched rounds.

The server provider was really inconsistent. We played one match perfectly fine, then a match where three of our players jumped to double+ ping. Then we switched to a server technically farther away with less ping.

Again, gg, it was fun, but also incredibly annoying playing against Brazilians with a constant sniper who were additionally condescending in a cup meant for players new to the game.

Just to clarify, everyone there except dreamxx is new to the game, with like 1 season in open (which would be our entry division). Dreamxx played a season in access (our second weakest division).

And for someone who have been playing soldier with 180~200 ms because I'll be playing in ESEA-O this season, boy, that ping makes a terrible difference.

Well, the ping really was high, but we asked Kaneco before because we knew about the high ping, and we really thought we would lose pretty fast on the cup, even though, we didn't have a lot of experience in really competitive things, we tried, especially yesterday, to understand a bit more of the game and see what we would do in the game, and after every round we lost, we would talk about what we did wrong and right.

Also, even before thinking about going in the cup, we had the idea do have a roamer to go as sniper almost everytime because we knew that it would be horrible to play as roamer with 200 ping so we wanted someone that was pretty good as a sniper too.

About the ping, we agree that it's horrible to play with guys with a ping of around 200, but it wasn't good for us either, our scouts would see rockets shot at them after some seconds, our soldiers couldn't protect the medic correctly and I couldn't hit a pipe, and dreamxx played really well as sniper, but I don't think it's because of the ping, because he plays really well with a low ping too.

Well, it was a good game and I thought we would lose after the round in snakewater, it was really close. gg

As for the SA players, its my fault really, I checked their profiles one by one and their ugc profiles as well, and apparently they had no experience and they also were on the lowest competitive brasilian division. I checked over 500 player profiles and the experience they had over a period of 2 days, some mistakes were bound to happen altough I'm not happy with it at all.

Our server provider had no problems, it was my fault, I was very unexperienced and tried to run a cup in a ruleset I was very unfamiliar with in circunstances I was completely new to, this lead to apparent servers and config issues caused by me.

I am sorry about this and I apologize to all teams involved that felt that way :(

Now onto the good stuff.. I do think there's something good out of it.

The good, ducky <3, such a beast streamer, he stayed with me for more than 10 hours straight, we just finished now at 4 am pt time and he took it like a trooper, I love him more than anything right now, any success from this I owe it to him.

Thanks to MagicalKillaCow for really getting this thing to take off, I never even interacted with him and he was a top notch guy that helped us for more than 3 hours, together with basshead which was also a great help. Not forgetting pledge of course which was such a beast as always and subbed for MagicalKillaCow in time for the finals.

The EU part of the cup I think was a really great success and everything was very smooth from start to finish. Congratz to Rushers, they played amazingly well and are a great div6 team, I am gonna be supporting them this season for sure. They showed the power of teamwork.

Now onto the NA cup, there were apparent issues, delays at the start because I couldn't get the servers ready (my fault) and many many issues, admitedly na players were also much more "beligerent" in the sense that I received a lot more complaints than in the eu cup. We still got it done tho. Thanks to Kip who casted with us for 4+ hours, shes such a sweetheart and so amazing, you are one of my favorite people now for sure! :) Also big props to shredder for helping out and being amazing at not pressing the push to talk key :D (you did great tho :D). And thanks to wolf and Noona for joining us at the end to close off the deal.

Not forgetting of course our main sponsor mawr servers, we had some issues today, but trust me it was my fault, in fact mawr went through every single one of these issues with me and helped me fix them as fast as possible, on a sunday, he's great and the community should be thankful of someone like him helping out. The servers were great as well, altough we already know how it is impossible to please everyone!

Thanks to my wiki team at comp.tf as well. They were a great help and were amazing as well!

I got strong feedback from this and trust me I will make good use of it, I know I did a lot of mistakes, some of which I really regret, my decision to allow some teams in was not the best, but I can assure you I tried my best. It's kinda hard to coordinate a 50 team (300 player) event, let alone my first time doing it. If I ever make this again, which I would really like to, I will make sure to correct the mistakes I made and come better prepared.

I'm really proud at what was accomplished in the great plan of things, I got cut of options from vanillatv and tf.tv just 1 day before the cups and we managed to pull it together at the last minute and make a 10+ hour cast marathon out of nothing but community contribution.

I love our community <3 Now off to bed, Im exhausted and working tomorrow is gonna be a pain for sure.

I'm not discrediting you guys in any way, I just really wish that we had known that we'd be playing a South American team in what we were told was a North American one. It's obvious that you guys know your shit and did well, but it would've been much different if we played against a team with equal ping.

Your scouts were incredibly jittery all the time, and it seemed I would die before I even heard a shot fired (this could all be the server), your sniper was incredible and dropped mumble morale with every shot, and your soldiers did really well for playing with 200 ping. I wish that we could've played on a server in between us so we'd both have similar pings instead of one that heavily favors one side, but if we were to do that, is it really an NA cup at that point?

It's also really weird having an SA team win the NA cup, too.

edit: woops I posted this without seeing Kaneco's post, thanks for the clarification on things.

yo Im going to take my own portion of this apology stew and say sorry for any shittalking that I(under) engaged in

I'm dumb and have kind of a dumb sense of humor so repeatedly calling out shit made me laugh in the moment, but after seeing inklings of sourness it kind of made me come off like I really felt wronged

I really dont care about ping differences or anything; clearly feel was the better team and they won because of that
I honestly just thought it was kind of ridiculous that a things out of our grasp controlled the flow of the game so much, and the tense mumble atmosphere made ridiculous things even funnier, so I just sort of rolled with bad jokes

but hey: all in all, fuckin good games
probably some of the most fun tf2 I've ever played, even though I never got to play the fragging class I was promised
lower level tournaments like this are really motivating for people like me (who don't pug/scrim/pugscrim/whatever) to actually play the game more, so all power to kaneco and thank you oh so very much for putting in the time to organize it
thanks to shredder and kip for casting for like 10 hours
thanks to almost every team for actually being there and playing
and thanks to specdeck for I dont like specdeck

EU teams got their keys already.

Now just missing the keys for the NA teams will try to distribute them today.

As for the NA server btw, the brazilians didn't win the server, they were fully aware and warned beforehand that if they did win they wouldn't get the server as it was a cup directed at na teams, mawr offered to still give the server to the 2nd placed team (adopted) which is NA, so if they contacted him (I gave details to midnitesite) you should be able to reclaim your server with Mawr, props to him btw.

all in all hoped you had fun through the day and we provided a good show, Imo the final games for both cups were great and really close, so that was awesome, and the casters did a great job as well. Will definitely be uploading vods to youtube later on! :)

All the keys have been handed out to both NA and EU teams.

Thank you to Russian Guyovich for donating 12 of the keys for 2nd placed teams. (The other 12 being from me)

Only missing the EU team server. Also, will try to upload the vods to youtube soon
