This sounds amazing Kaneco! Noona and I will be sure to plug it in Newbie Mixes in the upcoming weeks.

Also, I'd be willing to cast any games that aren't already being casted by higher-profile people (cbear, ruwin, etc.). Perhaps we could have real casters cast the big games (semis, finals), and have newbie casters cast the early games? That way there is still motivation to play and win, but teams that don't make it too far can still have the experience of listening to someone talk about their game.

Thanks! :)
Please do, I'm not very familiar with the NA "newbie scene" as in where they start and which groups they regularly play with, so some help from the inside would definitely help!

Will keep it in mind! I haven't had the time to talk to casting organizations yet but I will get to it. We still have 3 weeks left so that's plenty of time.

I will work on a system (possibly using google forms) tomorrow for people that are searching for a team to come together. I can't do it now as I intended because Its quite late.

Read the rules, as I said there are specific cases in which a team might be accepted even against the rules, just state your position in the additional notes on the sign up form and we will review your case

Usually, Newbies come from everywhere. If someone has a season of ESEA-O or greater, we encourage them to coach, but of course we can't enforce that rule 100% because of occasional alts and incomplete knowledge. Some play in UGC, but many are trying out competitive for the first time. I know personally of some IRL friends that joined up, despite having never played a pug before. We definitely have a wide range of people, but I think that many of the people who play in Newbie Mixes would be perfect for this sort of 6s cup. Perhaps the team-bonding aspect of a competition like this would have players mutually encouraging each other to keep playing... and isn't that the whole idea?

placing a limit on UGC steel players per team isn't a very smart idea imo, since a majority of new players go straight to steel anyways, on account of the iron 6s league being made about two seasons (~6 months) ago.

I'd limit UGC 6s players based more on how many seasons they've played than which division they play in since you can technically start anywhere in UGC regardless of your actual skill level.

Where might a UGC/ESEA player find a team for this event?

What are you doing about the possibility of alts?

Thanks for your input and I will make changes to the rules accordingly.
As I said I'm not an expert on the NA scene let alone the newbie scene so I dont know skill levels for some divisions. Do you think it would be smart to put the limit on UGC plat experience and Maximum of 1 season? Would you classify UGC plat 6v6 players as newbies?
Need some more info to change the rules. I am always looking for suggestions to further improve the cup so it happens as it's supposed to be a Newbie-only cup

DeseanWhere might a UGC/ESEA player find a team for this event?

I haven't had the time to implement a way for players without team list themselves as LFT for the cup but I will look into it, not sure I will do that until the weekend tho, this work week has been absolute hell because its the end of the month and I haven't slept more than 5 hours a day.

Every team will have to list all their players which will be reviewed to check for any anomalies, any players (that dont obey the restrictions) found using alts will cause their team to be removed from the cup. Or, if the cup is already in progress possibly taking a default loss in all their games / last game.

UGC plat is kinda weird, pretty much anything under Open would be reasonable for a low-level tournament. Steel/silver UGC teams is probably your best bet for newbie teams, since asking for people below that would be pretty difficult.

UGC Plat isn't necessarily newbies, but it's lower competition that Open generally.
It's difficult to classify, but I'd say max one season experience in any UGC 6s Iron-Silver division and no experience in UGC Plat would be fine. No newbies are gonna go straight for plat.

You might want to clarify the rules regarding UGC Silver players with regards to the 1-player exceptions since they aren't really covered by the Steel or Platinum rules...

Platinum div is now excluded, exception applies up to ugc silver only

Also, if you haven't noticed, I increased the prizepool, now each team will not only get a 3 months server but also 6 keys to be given to the team leader

Seems fairly clear in the updated rules but just to make sure, the UGC Steel+ experience restriction thing is just for 6s right? My team's new to 6s but we've got a few with a few seasons in HL.

Yes, just for 6s but you should write your HL experience in the additional notes area

About the scheduling, should I keep it on 18th august or what you think? I dont want the tournament to be overshadowed by another huge happening in comp tf2

Well, because of both LANs happening around the same time, it would be preferable to hold it either the weekend before ESEA or the weekend after i49. If you can't do it next week (which would be preferable for me, but I'm not anyone important), the week after i49 would be the best.

It's definitely not best to do it the weekend of any LAN... Newbie Mixes during last season's LAN really got washed out because of it IIRC.

The weekend before it's my only 3 days of real holidays this year :(, the week after i49 is the tf2 portuguese lan which I intend to go and as such won't be available to organize stuff

Maybe thinking about postponing 1 month (15th setember) not sure what that colides with, hopefully won't collide with the start of any season or anything, I was really caught of guard by this

As a Newbie cup I don't think it'll be affected by the lan. I personally wait for the Youtube version just because I never catch all of it which kind of ruins the experience. Yes you're missing the chat, however whenever I watch a live match the chat is the last thing on my mind because I'm too focused on the game. Maybe that's just me though.
When exactly does the lan begin?
You could try and make the cup a few days earlier.

Its like 3 lans in a row.
The next weekend Im on holidays for the first time this year, the one after is ESEA lan, the one after is i49 lan, the one after that is the Portuguese Community lan, it will be my first time attending and I really wanted to go. So the only option apart from 18th August is september really

Well, it depends. If you absolutely want to be there since you're the organizer and all, the timing should definitely accommodate you, but if it's just some responsibilities you have with running the cup, you could find people to help you get the critical things done. I certainly wouldn't mind lending you my help if you needed it.

certainly wouldn't mind help. But I feel the need to be present, as I also want to learn how all of this works, so for a future cup I already have some bases.
