#37 How are you doing today in Off Topic

Pretty well. As a sidenote, I did just learn why foster's uber tracking is always off.

#8 ASUS VG248QE vs Benq XL2411Z in Hardware

It's all personal preference. If you don't like lightboost and you think you might benefit from the 'black equalizer' feature on the BenQ, get that. If you like lightboost, get whichever you want. Given the technology differences, it seems silly to get the older ASUS if they're the same cost.

I have both and I'm unable to discern a difference in their operation. Black Equalizer on the BenQ definitely makes dark areas much brighter, but you can't use that feature while using lightboost.

I personally prefer lightboost over 144hz. Having zero blur makes things easier to see for me, but my vision is a special case and I can understand why other people would prefer 144hz.

#24 NISLT medic thing in Videos

Even if you ignore the fact that erkston's already stated what happened per the logs, you're all overlooking how TF2 works. The medic regenerates health up to a max of 150. Never ever ever has he gone past 150, even for a tick. Sure, a patch could cause this to happen, but it never has. I was a bit miffed the other day when I hit a medic with two rockets in a row and combattext batching showed the damage dealt to be 152, though. How dare he live.

#14 Shade phished possibly in TF2 General Discussion

Damn it. I logged in just to make fun of funari for talking about unplugging a wireless connection. Then I read the rest of the thread and saw other people have already done it.

Oh well. Doing it anyway. Bahahahaha unplugging wifi, what a doofus.

#49 (IEMs) Xiaomi Pistons on amazon in Hardware

I haven't used the Comply S400, but if you're looking for foam tips, be aware that they are very size-sensitive and they will degrade much much faster than silicone tips. I've been using the Tx-500 tips with my IEMs and while the large ones are comfortable, the medium and small tips fell out of my ears like a white man on alfa's mom (it has been suggested that her promiscuity has a scale all to itself). Even though they're the most comfortable tips I've used, they only seem to last a month or so before they degrade too far, and they are so bulky that they don't fit in the original storage case for my IE80s.

#5 i need help with qos in Off Topic

Honestly, that QoS seems pretty basic. It's quite possible that it's not very functional at all, like mentioned above. Your best bet would be to buy something cheap like an Asus N10 or N16 and flash it with Tomato firmware. If you just can't afford it or aren't willing to buy another router, you can make an attempt at configuring this one. You didn't state your goal in the original post, but I assume you want to prioritize your machine the highest. I'd start by creating one entry for your PC.

QoS direction: upstream
Not sure what options you have for QoS type, but I assume custom is what you'll need.

QoS parameters... any rule name you want.
DSCP classification is a ruleset to define how the packets are prioritized. It's basically a first level categorization that occurs before the queue priority, so for your machine you'll want to use 111000 (CS7). This ensures that your router never intentionally drops any packets that are being sent out by your machine.
Queue priority should be set to the highest level available in your drop list.

This is where it starts to get tricky. Different routers expect things to be entered differently. You'll have to play around and see what it's willing to accept, but you essentially want your computer's IP as the source. The subnet mask needs to be 255.255.255.255. You want to include all ports, so try leaving it blank. If it forces you to enter something, you could enter 0 to 65535 and probably have success.

Hopefully it lets you leave the destination information blank. If it does, it should trigger the rule regardless of the destination. If you're forced to enter things, you may have more trial and error... You want to encompass the entire internet, so you could try entering 0.0.0.0 and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.

It may turn out that selecting 'all IP addresses' under IP tag makes things easier and takes away the destination IP zone while leaving the source. If that's the case, you'll want to use the source information listed above.

This will likely be much more reliable with a better router. Anything that runs tomato is very user-friendly and of the dozens of Asus N-16 routers I've set up for people, I've yet to see one fail without being attributed to a power surge.

Edit: I forgot to mention above that it's possible that router won't prioritize your traffic higher than other traffic with only the one rule. It's conceivable that you'll need to add a second rule that encompasses all IP addresses (0.0.0.0 for source and destination) and all ports. That rule should have the DSCP classification set to any selection lower than 111000 and any priority lower than the highest.

Somehow I doubt that monitor is going to make it to i52 in time for that scheme to be viable.

#14 type 1 tf2 players in TF2 General Discussion

I don't have diabetes, but I have periodic bouts of hypoglycemia. When it hits me, I start to become increasingly irritable and my concentration suffers. The worst part is that I don't realize it's happening, so my teammates have to tell me. Usually I can eat something with any type of sugar and things will return to normal within a few minutes.

It's not a super steep discount, but for those of you who are in the market, the egg has the VG248QE for $249 with the promo code EMCPBPB24. It's $269 or so on Amazon these days.

#13 ESEA Invite S17 Power Rankings: Week 3 in News
defythats poor insight, so an undefeated team is placed below a team they beat but matches outside of ESEA somehow determine their 2nd spot, sorry but this writing leaves very little to be desired and no im not just saying that because XTS is 2nd, i'd say the same thing if they were 1stdefyWhether this was clckwrk playing sloppy or being contained extremely well by XTS remains to be seen, as he did play to form in the CEVO-P rematch.
if you're writing ESEA power rankings why bring cevo matches into it?

As per usual, your logic is as bad as your grammar. If something "leaves very little to be desired," you are stating that you are happy with it. If you are unhappy with it, the phrase is, "leaves much to be desired".

If you used ONLY ESEA matches to determine these power rankings, they'd be identical to the ESEA standings, and would therefore be moot.

#12 ESEA Invite S17 Power Rankings: Week 3 in News

Yes, br0nzing is dead. The roster struggle has gotten to the point that it's not worth continuing. I'm not willing to ask Sezco (or anyone else) to pay $60 for a team that's got roughly a zero percent chance of finishing in the top 4 this late in the season. Even if he paid up, he'd be on a new class and we'd still have no medic.

#69 XTS! in TF2 General Discussion
alfaTo be honest, I was underperforming badly and I felt that game shouldve been much closer if froyo played like the usual. It just felt like we were playing them on their offday, which rarely happens.

Also stop spamming chat with "xts to i52", froyo are much better than us on LAN and they will smash the euros guaranteed.

holy crap
alfa gave a compliment

it was veiled within a disparaging comment toward euros (and he's a euro) but the picture still applies

#32 Sticky Explosion Particle in Q/A Help
CasualI'd have to argue in the other direction. While visibility can be seen as an advantage, the lack of particles on screen can also serve as a monstrous disadvantage. Being unable to see trails of any projectiles can make them far harder to anticipate. For example, your chances of being surprised by rockets from the flank or behind is significantly increased when you can no longer see the lengthy smoke trail. Without explosion particles, players are at another split second disadvantage of knowing whether someone was just firing near them or not. These particles significantly subdue the signs that most players visually rely on to be the most alert that they can be.

It seems like more than a fair tradeoff, let alone the fact that minimal particles are primarily used by people struggling to get their fps as high as their monitor's hz.

At the risk of sounding harsh, this idea is totally retarded. If a rocket is surprising you, you're not looking at it--you likely haven't seen the player who flanked you and the only cue you're going to need, regardless of particles, is sound. If you feel you're at a disadvantage because you don't see trails during fights, you're ignoring sound and other visual cues (e.g. the soldier you see flying through the air firing at you or the rocket that is moving across the screen on an otherwise static map). The idea that smaller explosion particles are a disadvantage is laughable--you've already seen the enemy and heard him fire. Now you can see through the rocket explosion particles, too--leaving your visibility unobstructed at all times. Zero percent disadvantage for you. I'm also reluctant to believe that changing the particles will result in any repeatable and noticeable FPS boost. It's possible, but I doubt it.

Sorry, I'm not calling you dumb, so please don't take offense. That argument is just nonsensical.
