#19 E-blue Cobra (1600 dpi) in Hardware
watti'm having trouble following the whole DPI thing, if anyone can clarify something

i use 400 dpi and 2.15 ingame sens. would it be better for me to increase DPI and decrease ingame to get better something-or-other at the same sensitivity, or does it not matter?

always wondered this, so thanks to anyone that can put it in words that a 10 year old can understand

I can't explain DPI much better than I did in my first post, but the gist is that higher DPI means higher sensitivity. Whereas you're using 2.15 sensitivity in-game now, you'd have to use 1.075 in-game sensitivity to have roughly the same feeling if you used 800 DPI and all other settings remained the same.

DPI = sensitivity.

I don't like seeing threads about mice and DPI constantly because the degree of misconception is incredible. DPI is nothing but a stupid marketing gimmick for mice. There is no need for ultra high DPI. It doesn't matter whether your mouse has 400 DPI or 6400 DPI. A mouse is only capable of recognizing movement in finite amounts. I don't know the exact number at this point, but let's assume it's 200. The mouse can only recognize it's moving 200 times per inch. Let's say the mouse has 6400 DPI. You move the mouse enough to move it through 50 positions (called mickeys I believe). The 400 DPI mouse moves the cursor 100 'dots' on your screen, but the 6400 DPI mouse moves the cursor 1600 'dots' for the same mouse movement. What did you gain? You gained the ability to use a higher sensitivity.

Most FPS gamers don't use a particularly high sensitivity, so DPI is worthless to them. Contrary to popular belief, a higher DPI does not make the mouse more accurate--in fact, I would argue it does the opposite for most gamers. If you have a mouse with high DPI and you lower your sensitivity from its absolute maximum, you are effectively lowering the DPI of that mouse. DPI is the output of the mouse, not the input.

#18 Health problems in TF2 General Discussion

Troll post or not, I'm going to give a serious answer to this. The answer to the question depends entirely upon what you actually mean when you say 'my eyes go black'. Do your pupils just become instantly dilated, or are you indicating that you have a temporary loss of vision?

There are many things that can cause something like this to occur. Kidney disease often leads to swelling of the eyes, which may cause something like this. It's unlikely that this would be your first symptom since you'd be well-into the progression of the disease.

There is also a neurological disorder of the eyes called Adies Syndrome. This is unlikely as well, since the typical effect is that your pupils will stop responding to light and will essentially stay dilated all the time--but it's worth mentioning because its early stages have symptoms similar to yours.

Far more likely is something like vasovagal syncope/neurocardiogenic syncope--a sudden loss of heart-rate and blood pressure. This is difficult to diagnose since you have to rule out a dozen heart problems first.

Also likely is just a blanket case of any of these: low blood pressure, low blood sugar, high blood sugar, or anemia. These are all quite easy to test for, so make an appointment with a doctor and explain your problem thoroughly. Sitting on it is not a good idea.

who cares why it's inaccurate or whether it's the cpu or the software
the question posed was whether or not it was accurate and it's not

Those temps aren't accurate unless you're using liquid nitrogen or a phase change cooling system.

Even with water-cooling, you won't get temps much lower than room temp without extreme (phase change/ln2) cooling. I don't use that program so I don't know its flaws, but that's certainly not accurate.

#24 Neat color matching game. in Off Topic

I think that if you can score an 8 on the first section, your vision is probably fine. I can't get above a 4 on it. The later sections, oddly enough, become easier for me because there are 2-4 color spots and it seems that they're all linked so if I can discern one well enough to match it, the others are matched automatically.

I might not be saying that right, but that's how it seems.

My scores are more like this:
2
3
4
5
5
5
Overall 4.0

I should play this game and stream it.
