#3 What would get you playing new maps? in TF2 General Discussion

If it's not offseason it might be hard to find teams willing to scrim new maps that aren't in rotation. Pugs would probably be the best choice. As for the question though, usually someone asking me is more than good enough. If you wanna add me and ask to pug a new map whenever you do, feel free.

As for my thoughts on custom maps, this also kind of correlates with why I haven't much interest in putting myself out there to play them without being asked, is that a lot of them lately haven't been that great. Edifice(sp?), Process (pre-rotation), and only a couple of others I can't remember the name of have caught my attention whereas the other ones I've tried are usually pretty boring or honestly look boring.

You embedded a broken video :o

"http://www.youtube.com/?feature=player_embedded";

edit: fixed

OKAY HELP TIME

The colors for Gullywash in the intro are really bright (welcome to Gullywash and video editing). A bit darker and it will be perfect. Practice your smooths and they'll turn out a lot smoother. Yours during the intro were good but they could be better. The first sniper clip goes too quickly. I think you may have done it cause the song is more upbeat? Not sure, but that's more of a personal opinion. At 0:26 it's kind of choppy, try recording at a higher FPS if you can.

I think your colors overall are a bit too bright now to think about it. Looking at that medic to medic crossbow airshot, you can barely see the kill notice let alone what it reads and even the kill itself. Might wanna tone that down.

The smooth/third person view of the red soldier before 0:47 is unnecessary, looks like you forgot to remove it or forgot to do something with it. The linear swipe @ 0:52 swipes to black and then the next clip shows. It's better to have the next clip slide into the video rather than how you put it. The clip at 1:30 ends too abruptly, let it drag out a little. The last smooth of the triple airshot, I like what you did it with, having the scout fly into the camera so to speak, but you missed out on what the purpose of the smooth was for: the airshots. Aim it a bit higher and you're golden.

I really like the song and I enjoyed the video. Just touch up on some things and you'll be good to go.

This is how mine looks - tf>custom>configshudetc> (this is where i have a "configs" folder and "resource" and "scripts" for hud). Inside of my Configs folder I have all of the class configs, my autoexec, etc. Was I supposed to paste all of the configs from Broesel's "cfg" into my Configs folder, or was the crosshairswitcher folder supposed to be within the Configs folder?

How I have it now is just tf>custom>configshudetc>allofmyconfigsandbroeselsconfigs

EDIT: I'm not getting an error anymore, the crosshairs just won't switch to what they're supposed to be when I type "exec demoman" for example, or switch classes to autoexec the class config(s)

Well, before I had this, the "bind Q/E/F" also had "; viewmodel XXX" which I removed because they weren't necessary after using this. I have "bind Q/E/F" in my autoexec already, should I just remove that from my class configs?

The only thing that part of the readme is talking about is if I have other class specific scripts.

edit: I removed the "bind Q/E/F" lines and I get the same error.

] exec scout
'crosshairswitcher/switcher' not present; not executing.
Unknown command: scout

this is what it gives me

bind Q "slot1"
bind E "slot2"
bind F "slot3"

exec crosshairswitcher/switcher; scout

scout cfg

tonmas#8 Look in to Broesel's crosshair switcher

http://code.google.com/p/broesels-crosshair-switcher/

Does this still go into the TF folder or will it work in the Custom folder?

Dunno if I should ask here, but how can I make it so one weapon has a specific crosshair while another weapon has another crosshair?

For example, on sniper I would like to have crosshair #6, medium sized for the rifle but for SMG I'd like default.

MYLESdflamekirbyI'm not gonna sit here and say dflame is bad, like low/mid bad, but able to compete in IM? lol
12:06 PM - kirby`: i mean IM is basically open

I would believe this if it was a screenshot.

I'm going to suck it up and tell you I said this. The part he left out is where I was talking about was the lower part of IM where it's mainly high open teams starting their way into the IM scene.

He's trying to use it as if I believe 90% of IM is the same as open.

You could just completely reinstall Lawena so that you redirect it to the new tf directory
