My fraternity is planning on building a computer with a 1000 dollar budget.
It will mainly be used as a media computer, but also for light gaming and doing finances on. The CPUs and GPUs around 200 dollars seem to be at about the perfirmance point we are looking for. Likely this computer will have many programs running at the same time and will have virtual machines running for some of it's uses, so I was thinking maybe 16GB of RAM would be good to have, especially considering how cheap it is. A 120-240GB SSD would.be nice, and probably at least a terabyte of additional storage will be necessary. We probably will do enough gaming to warrant having an upgraded (not stock) cooler.
There is no preference on the size of the build or the type of case so as long as you suggest something cheap of decent quality we'll be alright
We have a monitor but frankly it's shit. So, if you have some decently cheap monitors with nice colors (response time is unimportant) you can recommend, I'd like that ot go.into.the budget too. We will also need windows.
If you have all that and a decent monitor and have plenty of budget left, I would consider a CPU upgrade, or maybe just save the money.
Thanks
