the worst thing about nursey's post is that every single gross thing on their is multiplacatively creepy if you add them together
getting rimmed by a diaper alien monster in a piss orgy is actually somehow worse than the sum of any of the individual things
its pretty shitty advice? like its so obvious that it isn't really helpful because the people who take 1v1s and lose them all the time are already pretty aware that its not a good idea. Actual good advice would be trying to explain how to not let yourself get baited into 1v1s all the time without being so passive you're useless (because that's what most new open players do)
did anyone just walk into tf2 as a casual gamer with basically no time on PC fps and become invite in <5 seasons?
i feel like most of the "got good really quick" ppl were either already good at tf2 in a pub setting or already good at other games, which makes it a lot easier to actually get good quickly
would people be ok with the medic's primaries trying to rival the crossbow by being better weapons with less utility? like as a hypothetical: if the medic had the shotgun as a primary (and no passive healing), would you use it? Would something at that level of practical DM be worth giving up utility for? I think that'd still be a hard call to make for a lot of players, and the shotgun is a pretty fuckin good gun, so its worth considering what exactly you'd need to actually do to the other medic primaries to make them worth using, because I don't think anyone is going to stop using the xbow as long as it has any of its 3 good attributes (ranged healing, 80 damage spam shots, ranged uber building). I also don't think most people are in the camp of saying that the xbow is bad for the game though either.
so yeah, maybe we should consider championing needle gun buffs rather than xbow nerfs, so that medic can have multiple actually interesting options rather than one that is insanely fun to use and play with and 3 that are boring as shit
mmrarkteidk using ur brain to get out of open is really easy
all you have to do is not take every 1v1, abuse 2v1s, buffs and listening to ur combo
yeah the best way to get better is to just get better
really sucks no one told me that
please list all independent variables thanks
avaiihnI'm in the same boat as OP other than the whole settings fixing stuff. I'm super inconsistent and I haven't improved at all for months even though im going to DM servers and doing MGE as much as I can. Every once in a while I go off and do really well but 5 min later i miss 3 easy shots on a medic and die or something like that
its cause you're only playing MGE.
if you're at the point that every game or two features a moment where you solo the enemy team while the rest of hte time you're an average player, your DM isn't whats holding you back anymore. you can be as good at clicking on people as you want but if you don't "get" how to apply that to an actual game it won't matter. When I started playing Open I could beat pretty much every other open pocket in MGE cause I played it all the time, but I'd still get rocked in games by people who had a better since of how to catch me when I was out of ammo or in an awkward corner
why do some people improve faster
DDS has a lot of utility even if you aren't getting outsniped. In the pub environment where 3v1 sniper duels are common being able to eat a headshot still is useful.
DDS is also broken in 6s. DDS is arguably the most broken unlock in any server where someone is playing sniper >10% of the time since it removes the only useful counter to sniper and makes him stronger to his other soft counter of scout :(
bonk is broken as shit if reimu is to be believed too. He explained it like 3 years ago as:
the general idea was you could use it to wrap around a choke risk free and either draw back a player for a 1v1 or 2 players and let your team take an easy push way too consistently
machina is just better than stock but piercing is kind of a fun mechanic idk
xbow is balanced for the game and adds skill, but is better than anything else in the slot
Razorback is still a top tier weapon in pubs just because the other sniper secondaries are broken or useless. DDS and Camper are better, but the SMGs are pointless and jarate is meh.
idk it still seems kinda OP
like is mana just waiting for me to post something, completely ignoring the rest of the forum in case I make a thread that's too ironic?
