#57 Community item recipient nomination thread in TF2 General Discussion
justindecap and subtitled - 600,000+ views on youtube alone.

I don't think view count should be a reason for community items, there are many editors who work a lot harder than those two to bring content/movies to the tf2 scene, even if they aren't as good (no offense to decap or subtitled, I love their movies, just don't think editing talent/skill justifies rewards for community activity.)

#20 Shitty ctap script for shitties in TF2 General Discussion

If your mouse/keyboard has the ability to set up macros you can make a perfect ctap script out of game (pretty sure a fair number of players do this). The same can be done to perform bhops on a flat surface, glitching player models, etc.

Bitrate will vary slightly just like frames-per-second when recording. Selecting 10 000 is just an average, it will generally range from about 9800-10200 bitrate (more or less variation depending on the encoder/codec you use too.

#23 Platinum Season 11 Highlights in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyBe on the watch though, something else big is coming from someone else soon.

What could it be???

Good video, although I still think you rush your work and the quality suffers as a result.

LunacideTrying to find a link to a rip of this last night was hell. All either fake or shitty vinyl rips

Except none of the youtube converters go beyond 128 kbps (which is youtube's limit too I think).

#5 Reminder: i46 Frag Vid Contest Ends Oct 15th in TF2 General Discussion
duderI haven't seen anything, but I'm assuming most people are waiting until the deadline.

I don't want to be a party-pooper but I doubt you'll get any. There wasn't much exposure of the contest and the timing was awful.

#6 Democall in TF2 General Discussion
kirbyUsing STVs to "smooth" is an unreliable method. If you're planning on getting anymore fancy than single left/right or up/down camera movements, then it would be better for him to re-enact the scene and use that POV instead. A little bit of more work for a better outcome, unless he's only going to use the STV for a single camera placement and not necessarily move it anywhere, then that's not a smooth and none of this matters.

If you set up binds and mess with different cam speeds SourceTV smoothing can do just as much as POV and without all of the potential bugs. Hopefully some day SFM will support .dem files though.

#84 Growing competitive tf2 in TF2 General Discussion
dope-wolfdellortdope-wolfIf I had to execute a way to get new players into tf2 and grow the community I would create a league that is:

a) free
b) has a large cash prize
c) only new to comp tf2 players can play in, no esea people. (that way the teams don't get raped and give up and quit)
d) Advertise to pubbers and everyone who's new or wants to get into comp tf2 about this league and assure them the skill level is for new players only.

You have to give people who want to get into comp tf2 some kind of goal like winning something at a level they are capable of winning it at.

Assigning these new teams mentors through out the season to sit in on like a scrim a week wouldn't be a bad idea either. That makes it a competition to see who's the best mentor also lol, maybe the mentor can get a piece of the cash prize to.

I feel that those league standards are completely unrealistic, how would you even go about getting a large cash prize if there are no entry fees? If you or others are willing to pay out of pocket for something like this then by all means do it, but until then I don't think it will work.

Not unrealistic if someone put's up prize money out of their pocket. Not talking tens of thousands of dollars, maybe 1 or 2 thousand.

I'll be amazed if you can find someone willing to put out $1000+ from their own pocket for an online league.

#22 Planned Series: ESEA-I Top 10 Plays of the Week in TF2 General Discussion

I think a top 5 plays of the week under teamfortress.tv (and a channel dedicated to the series) is the best option, although it would require more work than a monthly production.
