For the last few days I've been really enjoying playing pugs/scrims using voice activity (w/ a mute toggle like delpo explained in his post). I didn't really notice it when i was using PTT but a there are a lot of situations in which I would call something but I'm too busy concentrating on the mechanics of the game (be it fighting a 1v1 or rocket jumping) but since I'm on voice activity I can just say it without having to worry about anything. Definitely much easier to be vocal, only downside I've found is that I have to make sure i mute myself when I feel a cough coming so it don't hurt everyone's ears. I guess another downside is if you use blue switches in your keyboard even with a mod mic (used to have a blue snowball which picked up literally everything) its still audible so its helpful to remember to mute yourself before you're typing. The way I got around this was to have it so that when caps lock is on I'm unmuted so that I can type w/o caps lock with my mic muted. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is a main caller for their team and its probably worth at least trying out so long as you don't have tons of background noise or some odd situation like that.

yea i just use the advanced options auto heal thing dont see any reason to click and hold and iirc there was a thread discussing the valve auto heal vs scripted and there weren't any major differences besides the inversed click to stop healing option
SkyRanger-TSARBUXI've seen a lot of cookiejake hype. I entered the comp scene recently (only in Iron HL and 6s) and haven't watched much ESEA-IM. Where did the cookiejake hype come from?

16jacobjProSkeeztell them to download the mumble 1.3.0 snapshot and boost ur individual voiceNot really gonna work for pugs.
Though it's realistically not a thing you can expect everyone to do, there is literally almost no reason not for everybody to download the mumble developer snapshot (link: http://mumble.info/snapshot/mumble-1.3.0~1303~geb0a2a0~snapshot.winx64.msi
pros:
- local volume adjustment control (as an alternative to local muting, you can put people at -10db or in this case put people at +10db if they're too quiet, etc.)
- dynamic channel filtering (can toggle it on to hides empty channels, much easier to deal with larger mumbles with dozens of empty channels & you can add exceptions that you always want to see
- user list (better management of users, allows for easier renaming--no longer requires the user to disconnect and reconnect in order to use the new name)
- ban list (easier to manage bans)
- bindable shortcut for changing transmission modes (voice activation, push to talk, continuous).
cons:
- funky new ui by default, easy to change (configure -> user interface -> theme -> default)
- requires effort to click the download link and hit enter a few times in the installation
- will alert you whenever a new version of mumble is released and will ask you to download it (somewhat infrequent)
- if you have a shortcut to open up mumble with the "-m" in the launch options it will delete the shortcut on the desktop and replace it every time it downloads a new version of mumble so you have to re-add the "-m" each time(which allows for opening multiple instances of mumble at the same time, very useful for idling in certain mumbles to wait for inhouse pugs to start for example)

TwistyKanecoI didn't find any other more relevant Lawena thread so I'm bumping this one.
I've recently asked Quantic (lawena's dev) to add HLAE support as I've been using it A LOT for smooths. I've been testing the last few days with him. And it seems to be working fine so Lawena now fully supports HLAE, smoothing tf2 shots has never been easier!! This will make my workflow so much better for the play of the day series and i55 fragmovie, I really can't thank him enough. Big ups to him!
It's still only available in the preview branch of lawena but I assume it will be coming out to the public version soon since our tests went fine.
I might make a tutorial soon on how to smooth with HLAE and also share my HLAE configs when I have some free time.
I really hope to see that guide at some point, I love you work
I definitely second this, I've always wanted to try using HLAE but the workflow seemed too complicated to learn
