#1 What would yukon pro need to be a good map? in Map Discussion

I've seen a lot of talk going around of reworking Yukon, which made me wonder what changes it would need to be viable. It's a fun map, and I admit that it could use improvement, but what would that improvement actually be? I'm not sure I would personally rework it, although I might try; this is more as a feedback thread and starting point for anyone who has seen the demand for it and has thought about making it.

#8 Windows 8.1 boots to black screen in Q/A Help

Well... I dunno what i did differently. I was cold rebooting, which I've done like half a dozen times already, to make a video and show you guys what was going on... And that ONE time it decided to scan and repair my C: drive. So yeah, anyone who comes into this thread to troubleshoot, sorry, not entirely sure what my solution was. I've cold booted, run chkdsk's and bootrec's, and tried system restores (that apparently took hold a day later????). Sorry.

OsirisBefore this happened, had your monitor ever got stuck on a (maybe discoloured) frame and eventually gone to black? Do you see a blinking cursor for several seconds on your black screen at any point after POST but before boot?

Nope, that never happened. I had some issues when I opened my case; I think I messed up my GPU's seating, but I fixed that pretty easily. This specific problem never had that happen.

@Setsul:

1. I tried that, and as I just said, this 6th or whatever time worked. Who knows.
2. Yes, it was. I was going to point out in the video that the light indicated it exited power saving mode and turned blue.
3. After the boot screen, it just went black where the password screen would normally show. I'd tried ctrl-alt-delete but there was no visible response.
4. Good to know, thanks.
5. I tried refreshing, resetting and the automatic repair. The first two said the drive was locked. The latter did nothing.
6. Yeah, this was probably my last option. Thankfully I didn't need it.

Thanks for the help though, guys.

#4 Windows 8.1 boots to black screen in Q/A Help

I can't ctrl-alt-delete, it's just black. I've tried plugging into the onboard graphics and booting into safe mode, same result. I'm fairly certain it's deeper than the graphics drivers.

Oh I meant to say -

I5-4670k, asus mobo, don't remember model, evga 660ti, win 8.1 on a corsair 128gb ssd

Edit - also, using the windows disk I can enter the repair screen, and once every 10 tries it does it on its own as "windows failed to boot". Like I said, though, anything I would normally do out of it doesn't help.

#1 Windows 8.1 boots to black screen in Q/A Help

My PC booted fine yesterday morning when I first started it, but I needed to restart it later On and now it just boots to a black screen. The windows loading logo comes up, spins around about as long as it normally would, but instead of bringing up the password screen it just goes black.

It does the same thing into safe mode, either, so I'm fairly sure it isn't a graphics driver issue. Restore points did nothing, but when I've tried to refresh or reset it said that the drive was locked. However, diskpart, chkdsk and bootees didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

I've tried removing all of my sata cables other than to the SSD that windows is on and got the same results, so I'm relatively confident it has to do with that drive somehow.

Is it an issue with my OS being corrupt, or the SSD dying? Should I try a clean reinstall of windows? If so, can I clean install and preserve the data on the other 2 drives?

-protoa stoners dream, cant wait to get tuned and down some mcgriddles at night

in some locations you could already get limited breakfast food after midnight

this is still the best cause that 10:30am-midnight breakfast market has definitely had a strong backing for awhile

#34 Top 10 TF2 plays - June 2015 in News
Firetbf if youre the last one alive on ar, and then kill the whole enemy Team alone it seems like a pretty good play to me...

Except no one on that team seems to have any idea how to kill the scout. The issue isnt so much that he managed to 1v5 them as that the skill level is noticeably low. Herr_P gets a 6k at #3 with assistance from his team, but most of the shots are clearly dead-on and Reason isn't exactly a team of low-level lobbiers.

#1 being chosen over solid play by AND against more competent players (even most of the 6s offclasses and some of the HL plays) is questionable and disappointing, and almost feels more like another A:R push by extv, the only people i ever seem to see in support of this mode. I understand that you guys don't get much in the way of clips, but I'll sit through extine's overblown "HUUUUUGE airshot" again if that means we get less gimmicky, "whacky" plays. Maybe you really should switch to bimonthly if quality is coming to this.

Schweppesif its not too expensive I'd buy that from ya, what kind is it

sand-dashed field-tested mp9. don't get me wrong, I'm planning on keeping it; it's more that they knocked out my american pick. I'll just have to root for my french teams from now on, which i expected. I was just hoping to have another round or two of c9

AndKennethNot having it self-hosted is actually pretty nice. You give up a bit of control, but you gain so much in terms of ease of use. It's nice how accounts are global across all servers, and private messages are global as well instead of being per server (which is a bit of a pain with slack, I'm a part of about 3-4 slacks with overlap with some members or another).

The issue that worries me a bit about not self-hosting is that it seems that it's all on one server, and may not be able to carry unexpected loads (a BTTV/FFZ stress test brought in 800 people which crashed it). The nice thing about mumble in comparison is that there's lots of servers and it limits connections to a specific capacity, and even if one server crashes yours won't be affected.

If you're looking for a straight up VoIP client, mumble is probably still the way to go; if you're looking for something more along the lines of Skype or Slack, Discord is looking like it'll be a strong alternative.

miwoI've been using it for about a half hour, the web interface is actually really decent right out of the box with no setup.

They also have an API -- probably something for the tf2center / tf2 web pug systems to look into!

Global hotkeys only work if you're using the standalone client, unfortunately - if you're on the browser version it only works if the window AND tab are the focus. It would pretty much end up requiring you to install a program anyways and working exactly like TF2Center's mumble works now.

#11 Chrome doesn't open in Off Topic
HerganWhat's keeping you with Chrome so much? If it stops working you can just install a different browser, right?

Did you read the OP at all? Several of my accounts are under 2-factor authentication and I'm only logged into them on Chrome. This wouldn't be a problem normally, but my phone is disconnected and so I could only access ones that I'd switched to Authenicator or had backups (which is like, three of them, mostly because they don't OFFER those options).

Besides, I like Chrome. Hasn't done me any wrong other than yesterday.

#4 Chrome doesn't open in Off Topic

OK... I tried the one you mentioned, Dance, and the former solution didn't work. The latter appeared to work, but I eventually realized it was booting Canary.

I'm on 8.1; I literally couldn't uninstall it because the process was apparently still active. However, I couldn't kill it with default task manager, Process Explorer, or Process Hacker 2.

Looked around a bit, found this thread. Started going through the steps, but after booting into safe mode but not doing anything in it Chrome started working again in a regular install. Go figure. I'm a little suspicious, to be honest; might have to bump this thread.
