wolsneIs anyone aware of how playoff seeding works? I'm just speculating but I assume the seeding works like this for open:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1
If anyone has more definite information, that would be great.
The top 16 records will make the playoffs regardless of conference.
That means one conference could have 7 playoff teams and the other conference would have 9.
The team ranked 1st will play the team ranked 16th, 2nd vs 15th, etc, etc
Seeding should be determined by the posted rules, so:
Open division:
Overall record then by
Head to head record then by
Highest amount of regulation rounds won
Single map playoff if all other tie breaker scenarios are indecisive
At the end of the season, the division ranks your currently see here will likely not be correctly formatted per the rules. The ESEA webpage has always ranked teams by "Record" then "Rounds For". As you see from the rules section, Head to Head record is counted first in seedings.
Example: Currently the IM division Rankings are here.
Dexters Lab is listed as first place above Cat Noises because they have more "Rounds Won".
However, Cat Noises beat Dexters Lab so if these teams are tied at the end of the season, Cat Noises should always be seeded ahead of Dexters Lab but only if they message an admin to change it.
I can't recall a season where the rankings were completely correct at the end of the season. Additionally, unless you msg an admin and inform them of the rankings error because of Head to head records, they will not be fixed.
