mastercomsmlnsplayers become really dark in shadowed areas for me, any ideas on what it might be?I'll adjust this in a future release. My intention for low was to only remove lighting that wasn't substantial. If you could share maps and locations where this bug happens, it would help a lot more. Thanks!
using the latest release on low preset, didn't happen before that
I haven't had this issue in a couple years, but: In my experience it is the worst for comp players on metalworks. Some pub maps might have issues too but I know specifically on metalworks in some of the indoor areas it becomes super hard to differentiate between what team someone is on

AltoAt least as far as being able to see uber %s goes, doesn't it just shift medic skill to 'actually building ubers' instead of just guessing them? since you don't have a spy to call uber %s you just assume they're building optimally but you never actually know, meaning that there are probably tons of cases of sub-optimal building going unpunished because there's no way to know and it's not worth basing a push around the assumption that your opponents are bad. while 'guessing/knowing enemy uber %s' based off of time may not be as necessary, i'd argue that it's more important to emphasize actual, tangible, skills (building ubers quickly) than making educated guesses, especially when those guesses do more to mask bad play than highlight good play. it also results in teams gaining more actionable information, increasing the pace of the game because these cases of suboptimal building are now actually pushable.
and while i don't think balancing around lower divs is an ideal strategy, i'd imagine less experienced medics will be able to improve more quickly if they consistently see feedback regarding their/their opponent's building
Yeah man, bad take. People aren't really guessing at the top level of the game. Building uber isn't a skill, tracking ubers accurately is.
has been playing tf2 since you were born
ArchRhythmI wonder if toggling voice chat back on after turning it off will require a retry/connect
edit: haven't tested it yet, but it doesn't seem to use voice_enable but rather "voice_modenable" which apparently was already in the game so maybe it works better than voice enable
voice_modenable will work as a toggle while in a server. I wonder if they just weren't aware of that
iirc the most used video settings for top streamers is 1600x900 at 60fps and 6k bitrate. The thinking is that unless someone pops out the chat and fullscreens the stream, which is incredibly rare, running 1080p is just a waste of bandwidth.
That being said 720p may be better for a faster game like tf2, but ymmv
Also twitch increasing the bitrate limit for non-partners is extremely unlikely in the near future, and support for higher FPS is also unlikely for all the reasons twiikuu gave as well as the lack of devices that support higher refresh rates
twiikuuBesides that, you're cramming twice the data into the same bitrate limit, making the image quality much worse.
The number of tf2 players that stream 60 fps w/ sub 3k bitrate is way too high.... its just like 8 pixels the entire time
I'm impressed that you're using infosec magazines as copypasta material

TFTV player map (outdated by a few years but probably still helpful if people are lookin to make these lists)
zandaI just remembered this player map exists. good luck finding some gamers
?
Indiana is fucked for a team but me Marxist and owl should for sure get beers sometime
I love a "see look someone thinks our game should be big" thread as much as the next guy, but tbh its pretty irrelevant
if you guys are looking for hope about the future of our game the thread should be about us having 36 teams in the newcomer league in RGL 6s this season. That's a crazy amount of people coming into the scene fresh.
I'm hoping RGL delivers on their talk about a pug system for 6s. Clearly there is a group of people looking to get into it, but they only host pugs for Prolander right now from what I can tell
ArieDon't spend any money on DACs and AMPs, on-board audio is so good these days, you're better off just putting the money saved towards beter headphones or ice cream.
I've been told this before, and maybe my motherboard is just really unfortunate in the audio department, but I had constant static without a DAC. Look at reviews of your motherboard to make sure that's not a complaint people have

bruh.
I got the Sennheiser HD 559 about 2 years ago now and have enjoyed them, they're about $100 and have a replaceable cable so if something breaks there you can replace it for pretty cheap. Modmic for a mic if you're not using an external one already
