This is amazing but I'm just thinking it doesn't get much of the HUD across, you need to either download the HUD to try it or already have a good idea what the HUD's like to have any opinion of them, which sort of defeats the purpose of the site. It's convenient and looks fancy, but one image just isn't enough IMO.

Just a loose concept (probably could add some arrows to scroll through more images) but maybe try out something like this?

irkedit: I just remembered that I would sometimes get the occasional glitch that puts two echos on the same line, maybe there's an ugly buggy work around. I'll get back to you on that one.

Can't say I've ever experienced it. I've heard that sometimes an echo won't automatically go to the next line, though I've never heard any specifics on it (if it ends up being controllable, then we probably could make chess or even computers or anything).

If you get anywhere with this, do tell.

It seems like if it actually does what you say it does you could make so top-shelf tier scripts

The reason why you need a wait command for vaccinator scripts is because you can only switch resistances one way, so if you want to effectively go backwards one you'd need to go forward twice. You can't get past this through logic gates or anything like that, it's a limitation with how tf2 handles +commands. Scripters have been using this sort of logical applications for a while, it's just never been formalized as logic gates.

I do know that somewhere on reddit there's a vaccinator script that you hit a number key twice to get whichever resistance, but it's not that big of a step up from just rotating normally unless you're good at mashing buttons.

I don't know if this really counts but a while ago I made a game of tictactoe through some similar stuff. Not your scripts exactly, and doesn't use logic so formally, but still uses pretty similar stuff.

Trying to do anything but tictactoe would probably be hell just because of the display. Could probably be able to do checkers reasonably, but not chess, and certainly not any computer with a decent display.

You can only echo on a per line basis, so you need to set up each possible line beforehand. In tictactoe, there are three possible states for each spot on the board (X, O, and empty), with three spots on the board for each row. 3^3 is 27, so a total of 27 different echos will need to be made. For a game like chess, there are a total of 13 different states (each team's 6, and then empty) with 8 spots in each row. 13^8 is 815730721, meaning you'd need 815730721 different echos for each possible state of each row and set things up appropriately for that. If you somehow managed this, this'd be 60 gigabytes big just for a game of chess. That's not even taking into account how much more difficult the logic of the game would be to implement.

Inside huddamageaccount.res make a new CExLabel with the labeltext "%metal%".
Most popular HUDs have that nowadays to reference off of anyway.

Most of them are pretty much the same, try out some ones and take one that you liked. Or just make your own based off an existing rounded one that you liked.

Basically all you need to know is "draw_corner_width" and "draw_corner_height" indicate how curved they are. Anything inset based you can ignore.

Gunbladetoo cluttered and honestly i cant see any theme going for this hud. nice try though but you havent even started from scratch. again better off as a hud mod.

I find it a little hard to see how a hud made mostly with the default files with some sections of 4 other huds added in classifies it as a hud mod, but I digress. Partway through making this version I got better plans for how to do most things and keep things consistent, and that's what I'm doing now.

I meant to put that in as a watermark for any recording I was going to do (never got around to it), just forgot to remove it I guess. Next update it should be gone assuming I don't forget again.

You can change the fgcolors of the buttons directly in mainmenuoverride.res using the standard RGBA format and don't need to even touch sourcescheme. If you do want to do it through sourcescheme for consistency, it's the same as adding colors into clientscheme.

Your health's not wide enough at some point to the left, but is shifted to the left more than it should be to properly hold all of it. Since you can't increase width leftwise and only rightwise, you're going to do a little bit more. Increase the width of the containers, shift everything within it to the right by some amount, and shift it to the left by the same amount in hudlayout. It should be fine then.

GunbladeBetter off posting this as a hud mod really :P. some advice for when you are making a full hud is that that main menu is really cluttered imo.

also to anyone else making a hud similar to this please dont name it after yourself when its like 1 modification.
