#5 Is this good for the price? in Hardware
thrasher"integrated power supply"

do. not. use.

i figured ;3

wrechedddddIf I was in your position to build a new rig I would honestly wait for Intel's new Haswell chips to release early summer. But if you're dead-set on AMD I'd go for this combo on newegg atm: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106011

I mean you're spending 190 for the waterblock+cpu. Thats only like 10-15$ more than your cpu selections + the aftermarket cooling solution. So yeah.

I like your memory + motherboard selections.

Your ssd could be changed though. I'd honestly avoid anything with a sandforce chip since I've heard such bad things about them. I personally bought a 120gb Sandisk for my laptop and had to RMA it since windows would BSOD right from fresh install. I highly recommend going to slickdeals.net and searching through their SSD deals daily, since they have super hot deals on sites like newegg that get sold out very quickly. Here's a crucial m4 that was in the newegg promo email. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148449. Its a 256gb, but its a very good price and you'll be thanking yourself later that you paid the extra money for the larger size. And btw, a 120GB is super small. It's my personal recommendation to buy at least a 180gb, but hey its your choice.

For the power supply, its really dependent on when/if you plan to ever upgrade. For now, with that GTX 650 id go with this power supply: http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/88820/newegg-corsair-cx430-v2-430w-power-supply-cmpsu430cxv2 simply because its 16 bucks and its Corsair.

I personally like Rosewill, for their cases and their power supplies. So a 'combo' case and psu would be an option for me, if it was a money issue. Otherwise, I'd go with a psu that was on sale and a solid antec case. You can usually find cases for free shipping all the time on newegg.

im honestly just looking at how the theoretical build compares to mine.

So I've been looking around at parts a lot, and I realized that the build I made could've been a good deal better for the same price. I paid 760 for mine, including the monitor and shipping, so I'd like to know how this compares to mine.

My Build
CPU: AMD FX-4170 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($124.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 612 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($51.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($57.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($46.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Sandisk Extreme 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 2GB Video Card ($133.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart 530W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($71.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($24.98 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Acer G205HVbd 20.0" Monitor ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $762.86

Alternative Build
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($139.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Dark Knight II SD1283 Night Hawk Edition 89.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($92.55 @ Newegg)
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($49.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Sandisk Extreme 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($119.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 7770 2GB Video Card ($144.98 @ Newegg)
Case: Rosewill R218-P-BK-450W ATX Mid Tower Case w/450W Power Supply ($49.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer ($22.98 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Acer G205HVbd 20.0" Monitor ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $760.44

My main concern is the integrated power supply on the rosewill case for the 6300 build.

CopperSideKiritoCan you also rate my build?

CPU: Intel Core i3-2105 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz
CPU Cooler: Default Fans
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 Memory
Storage: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB
Video Card: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5
Case: Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Power Supply: CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 430W ATX12V

All of this is about $600 including shipping and tax.

If possible get a quad core i5 processor. They are worth the extra money over an i3.

I got a shitty mobo, but other than that, I have no real complaints and I love the way it runs. I want opinions though, since I can still RMA parts to swap them out if need be.

Edit: Forgot to add my 1 TB Storage HDD to the parts list :P

I suggested you return the processor and upgrade to the FX-6300. It's a little bit more, but well worth the extra cost. It has more cores plus higher performance per core with comparable power consumption.

Yeah, I was actually about to RMA mine to get a 6300, then I saw I have literally 0.74$ left in my paypal, so I wouldn't be able to afford it :(

TwinqeI dislike the choice of AMD if you're not on a budget. Not that it's bad, but if you had the money, an intel machine would be better.

Glad you like it though!

I cried a few days ago when I saw a 3570k bundle with water cooling and my GPU on Tiger direct for 660 :( I was on a budget though, so AMD was my company of choice C:

KaeyelThere's an entire subreddit for builds (suggestions and troubleshooting)

I made a post there too :3

kuzaI would never make a build without SSD's in this day and age. Taking longer than 15 seconds to boot up is passe. When sales are around you can easily get 2x120 GB for 120 bucks. That's $0.50 per GB. You can still have your 1 or 2 TB storage and even better, an external drive that you can plug into any computer.

Haha yeah, I have a 750 GB External for even more storage. I just love SSDs :3

kirbyCan SSD have more space than 120GB? Never had one, though I'm interested. I bothered getting a 1TB HDD though for video recording space.

SSDs are great, but pricy. I use mine as a boot drive, I have a 1 TB HDD that I forgot to add into the list.

RigelWouldn't scimp on the power supply. 530 watts is enough to power that rig but you won't be able to upgrade really or do any kind of SLI in the future. Not much experience with micro-ATX but I'd imagine physically building the computer would be a pain for cable management and future upgrades.

Nothing terribly bad with the build, but I don't think it would hurt to at least get a better PSU, something with 650 watts or so, but I guess that depends on what you want to do with it now and in the future.

The build runs at like 300W, and the most upgrading I plan to do is an upgrade to a 660/670, or a mobo upgrade + 660/670 + RAM. SLI isn't something I really plan on doing, and putting a micro-ATX build together is a pain in the ass.

#4 How much can I OC my processor? in Hardware
reillyI'd recommend reading this: http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/k33vz

It's important to know what you're doing before you try doing it. Use coretemp/hwmonitor to watch your temps. Prime95 to stress test. I don't know your current temps but you could probably do 4.7. I took my FX8120 from 3.1 to 3.9 on a similar performing cooler, and still have about 10 degrees extra before I would max out.

Thanks so much, I've been looking for something like this.

If you feel like building one, I put some parts together online and have a build that's around the top end of your budget.

Everyone is welcome to give their feedback on this, and some people may tell you to go for an i5 3570k instead, but I can back the Processor myself, since it's the same model my build runs.

Overclocks Factory to 4.3, but I've seen people take it up to 4.7-5.0. I'm a noob, so I don't know how to determine overclocking stuff, any help would be greatly appreciated.

building your own is more satisfying and usually you get a better deal out of it too. but the one you listed looks pretty good for the price tag.
