#2 Blue snowball vs snowball ice? in Hardware

The only difference is that the blue snowball (not the ice) has three settings. There is a front only setting (which is what you'll want). Setting two picks up all the sound in a room which would be good for recording a meeting or something like that. The difference between setting two and three is that setting three has a large volume drop as it was intended to record music. Get whichever is cheaper but it's worth knowing that some ice models are just regular models that don't have other working settings.

Hope this helps.

At least I know xan has my back.

Seriously not sure if I'm even the third best demo on the team though. I just came back to have fun with a couple of old friends, not to argue about whether I'm good or not anymore. Every team is different and their players function differently on them. A pocket centric team (lol) may not make the scouts or demos look that great. But a demo centric team (lol) might make the pocket look bad. A team that plays around scouts makes everyone who doesn't play scout look bad. At that point everything becomes subjective and even looking at stats wont tell you what you need to know.

I'll also be honest and say that I have been away for so long that I don't even know who the other "top" demos are right now. Nonetheless I'm happy that there are some new players that have come around in the two or three seasons that I've missed. Player rankings are mostly a moot point if they don't win playoffs.

Also xan has my back.

#935 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion
KaiThePhauxValve should just release an Offensive Sticky Launcher with all of the opposite effects of the current Sticky Launcher. The longer the sticky is sitting there, the less damage it will do.

We'd probably have to wait a while but I would be surprised if they did this. Would be similar to splitting up the equalizer/escape plan and killing the targe turn scripts but replacing it with the tide turner.

pamphletthe answer is unbanning the caber

Tide turner caber med picks are obviously what the game is gravitating towards.

WARHURYEAHBadlands last is also useless for the demo, if someone runs to the point and you blow your stickies you can't do shit after that.

This becomes even worse in this new setting where the SR is viable. Your stickies are guaranteed to never be on the point.

kanonanyway why did they decide to change the rl/medigun/etc viewmodels but not fucking remove that hand on the left with the original

I don't understand why they changed them at all, don't think anyone really complained about them. At least if they gave the option to put it back to how it was before. I don't actually play soldier but I do use viewmodels with it, the new one however takes up a ton of the screen and looks really odd to me.

Also, has anyone else noticed that the scouts left wrist is bent weird when reloading? Don't think it was like that before.

StaleWaffleThere were some pretty good ideas already presented such as reducing clip size to 5 or 6 or adding damage fall off over distance

The issue was never long range. Hitting stickies across the map is the most skill based thing about the weapon, that should be rewarded, close range defensive floor spamming with stickies however, should not as it is not supposed to be a strong, or even moderately strong, close quarters class.

Edit: on the other hand, soldiers are able to shoot at the ground, pipes do not afford the same liberty. With pipes, if someone hugs you and you want to do damage, you're forced to take self damage. With rockets on the other hand, you can minimize, or even completely neutralize and self damage by shooting the ground and putting yourself out of splash range, or placing the rocket behind your aggressor so that you don't get hit by the splash.

Everyone says that valve wanted to cater to pubs and fix pub balance. While this might be true, they also gave soldier an automatic rocket launcher that can hold 8 rockets. Am I missing something?

remedyi think people should try demo out in a 6v6 setting before they post their opinions

Tried it with regular stickies and it was pretty bad. It got to a point where calling sticky damage was pointless because everything was around 30 damage (including a whole lot of 19s). Having to sticky a scout three, four, or even five times is a death sentence as a demo so I just threw out the sticky launcher completely. For offense, and even self defense, stickies are pretty bad. Another issue that comes from the low damage is the fact that stickies don't toss people around as much making hitscan more accurate when fighting demos.

On the flip side, pipes only somehow achieved normal demo DPM so that was a pleasant surprise.

edit:

marmadukeGRYLLScool, the pocket has more damage loaded than the demo. he also has to be in very close range to do that damage, and in most situations while in that close of range will never get off those 10 total shots before dying (excluding getting ubered obvi).

To be fair, pipes hit past a certain range really boil down to bad dodging/unaware players. This basically means that unless they are ground detting, you need to be pretty close to do good damage. Not getting off shots at this point becomes even more of a problem for demos as stickies now do more damage to the user than anyone else (before the 2 seconds) and the fact that pipes wreck the user if they get hugged. Point being, on top of the damage the enemy players do to you, you are also doing just as much to yourself making you die incredibly fast in some cases. Pipes are also far less forgiving than rockets and stickies which put many players in a pretty deep hole.
