#186 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion
FzeroPipher, I think one of the biggest issues that TF2 players had to deal with was the fact the almost zero admins, (back in the day of like season 1+2) didn't even play TF2, if I remember correctly.

None of our full-time staff actually play any games competitively any more, but we're always open to bringing on volunteer staff (that do play) to help us run the events. At this point, we only have 7 active teams in Season 3, so we haven't been able to justify bringing a volunteer on to help us manage such a small event. If we were to have an influx of teams register in Season 4, it would certainly be one of our top priorities to get an experienced TF2 player to join our volunteer staff.

#183 The ESEA abuse thread in TF2 General Discussion
marmadukeGRYLLSjust popping in to remind people that CEVO is a classic "grass is greener" scenario. back in my cs days there were corrupt admins that banned people for cheating when they weren't or some shit like that. i think it was cevo|pipher involved in the whole thing, not sure though.

@marmadukeGRYLLS, I'd love to hear more about this - I've worked for CEVO since 2004 and can say with confidence that we've never suspended someone for cheating, that we weren't 100% confident was in fact cheating. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you aren't comfortable talking about this on a public forum, but I think you may be misinformed, and I'd love to set the record straight and/or look into any actual facts you have about these "corrupt admins".

As for CEVO TF2, we're more than happy to welcome new teams that are willing to come over and give our league a chance. We've had trouble convincing teams to sign up over the past 3 seasons for a variety of reasons, even though as far as I know we are the only league giving away cash + hardware prizes, with an anti-cheat, and reliable (full-time) staff without charging anyone a penny.

CEVO has been supporting competitive TF2 for a long time now, and we don't plan to stop any time soon. In some of our games with larger participation we have multiple skill divisions, larger prize pools, and live match broadcasting (matches of the week). There's only one reason that CEVO TF2 doesn't have these things, and that has to do with the number of teams that sign up each season.

Thanks,

#32 CEVO TF2 s3 Registration Opens w/ - $600 in prizes in Esports

#31 not a problem. We have no problems adding teams manually for the first two weeks of the season. After that point, we aren't able to guarantee that we'll be able to find new teams a full season of matches, so we'll be forced to stop accepting late entries.

Thanks,

@PYYYOUR, we can't extend the registration period, but we can add teams manually for the next two weeks if you or anyone else would like to join late. If you create a support ticket at http://cevo.com/support with your team name and all members CEVO accounts (email addresses), we'll add you to the event manually and schedule makeup matches for the rounds that you've missed.

Thanks,

Team registration ends at 11:59 PM CDT tonight! If anyone has any questions at all before the deadline, ask away and I will do my best to monitor this thread. The preseason ends tonight, but teams that are "ready" will receive their first regular season schedules tomorrow morning.

Thanks,

hookyWill the client actually work during the season?

Yes! We have made quite a few improvements to the Paladin since our last TF2 event, and over 500 CSGO/DOTA teams have been using it without any issue in the s3 preseason.

WahwahI have a little question about this league. Why is there a single open division? I guess the answer is obvious in a way (not enough publicity / players and teams that want to play) but do you think if you eventually grew into a league with say 2/5 the teams as UGC 6s would you branch out more divisions?

The answer is exactly the obvious one that you suggested. We don't have enough teams registered to accommodate more than one skill division. If we ever have enough TF2 teams to support additional skill tiers, we'll definitely add them.

#4 CEVO s2 team registration closing in two days! in TF2 General Discussion

It's an 8 week season that starts in early June, followed by about 2-3 weeks of double elimination playoff brackets. Matches are scheduled for each Thursday, but scheduling is flexible and teams are encouraged to play their matches on alternate dates if both teams agree.

#1 CEVO s2 team registration closing in two days! in TF2 General Discussion

I wanted to make one final post here as a reminder that CEVO Season 2 team registration is closing on Thursday night. We're giving away over $850 in our 6's division and registration is completely FREE.

You can still register your team @ http://www.cevo.com/event/tf2-season2-6v6/

We only have 29 teams registered (12 ready) so chances are good to finish in the money :D

We understand that our last season wasn't free of problems, but we've been working hard to address the underlying issues and things should run quite a bit smoother this season. With that said, we're still fully committed to TF2 in CEVO and would love for you and your team to give us a chance.

We're also running a HL division at http://www.cevo.com/event/tf2-season2-9v9/home/ if you prefer.

I'll try to respond to any questions posted below, and thanks a lot for your time.

EpochHave you guys considered putting the 6v6 games on Wednesday instead of Thursday to allow a simpler transition for players to compete in it? When is the deadline for turning in game info?

Also where are the general ingame rules? I mean whitelists, specific measures to win a game, class limits...I wish there was a simpler way to find these.

We have the 6v6 matches set by default to Thursday night, but teams are encouraged to play their matches on alternate days if both teams agree using our match communication thread. Teams can report their scores any time before Friday of each week, but at least for the regular season, if teams need extensions we are usually more than willing to accommodate them.

We haven't released the updated Season 2 ruleset yet (which is why you can't find it), but we should have it available early next week on the event page @ http://www.cevo.com/event/tf2-season2-6v6/.

Thanks,

Just wanted to give this thread a quick bump (hopefully that's okay). Registration is open until Thursday, May 30th.

You can register for the 6v6 event with over $850 in prizes @ http://www.cevo.com/event/tf2-season2-6v6/ and the Highlander event @ http://www.cevo.com/event/tf2-season2-9v9/home/ both are FREE to play.

We're always looking for ideas on how we can improve our events, so if you have any suggestions or feedback, please don't hesitate to post below.
